Mitch Lauwers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Everardo Huguet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the match, Benedicto Atarratze had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jurgen Goris. Wesselbend's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benedicto Atarratze was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. A collision led to Selebi-Phikwe getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Vlad Tudose hit a great ball. After 35 minutes Wesselbend's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Abid Bubalo who took care of the corner kick. Selebi-Phikwe's Abid Bubalo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jurgen Goris in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Wesselbend getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Grégoire Caamaño hit a great ball. Jurgen Goris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedicto Atarratze, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Jurgen Goris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedicto Atarratze in the 41st minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benedicto Atarratze was the one to do the kick off. The Wesselbend fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. When Benedicto Atarratze came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Selebi-Phikwe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benedicto Atarratze couldn't finish the play. 72 minutes into the match, Selebi-Phikwe's goal looked a bit too open when Everardo Huguet came free, but Mitch Lauwers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The tension between the Selebi-Phikwe and the Wesselbend players grew even worse after the yellow card.
