The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nélson Brites didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Benedicto Atarratze went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 7 minutes into the game, Selebi-Phikwe's Benedicto Atarratze nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nélson Brites made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Nélson Brites made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benedicto Atarratze in the 11th minute of play. When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Benedicto Atarratze sped through KSV Sottegem's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nélson Brites. After a rather tough play, Selebi-Phikwe's Abid Bubalo got a free kick in the 15th minute. When Abid Bubalo came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Selebi-Phikwe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abid Bubalo couldn't finish the play. In the 19th minute, Benedicto Atarratze made a precise shot to the right of Nélson Brites. KSV Sottegem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Benedicto Atarratze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nélson Brites having to interfere. Mateo Savion's late challenge caught a Selebi-Phikwe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mateo Savion helped the player get up and apologised. In the 24th match minute, KSV Sottegem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateo Savion to maneuver through the defense. Benedicto Atarratze's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nélson Brites read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Şehzade Taykurt hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, Benedicto Atarratze had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nélson Brites. KSV Sottegem's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benedicto Atarratze was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. Benedicto Atarratze took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nélson Brites. Nélson Brites dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. In the 37th minute Benedicto Atarratze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nélson Brites saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute, Benedicto Atarratze made a precise shot to the right of Nélson Brites. KSV Sottegem's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. Nélson Brites stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Benedicto Atarratze's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 46th minute Benedicto Atarratze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nélson Brites saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nélson Brites showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedicto Atarratze, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jeremey Van Hallebeeck to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Benedicto Atarratze rounded KSV Sottegem's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-8. In the 55th minute Jeremey Van Hallebeeck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mitch Lauwers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arkadiusz Domeradzki kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. With a little luck, KSV Sottegem's Nélson Brites got control of the ball when Benedicto Atarratze tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 65 played minutes KSV Sottegem got a freekick which was hit by Nico Tuytgans. Selebi-Phikwe's Cléberson Neves was substituted for Benedicto Atarratze. With his leg Nélson Brites managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Selebi-Phikwe's Cléberson Neves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A sloppy throw-in by Şehzade Taykurt in the 76th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Selebi-Phikwe's Radan Anatkov. 78 minutes into the match, KSV Sottegem's goalkeeper Nélson Brites had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cléberson Neves.
