The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliodor Puiu in the 4th minute of play forced MINERUL BALAN's goalkeeper Jan Popowicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 6 minutes in the game, Andrés Silvera dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Jan Popowicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cazimir Adomniței, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cazimir Adomniței in the 7th minute of play forced MINERUL BALAN's goalkeeper Jan Popowicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Calistrat Pascaru showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emilian Apolzan in the 9th minute of the match. After 10 minutes of play, Minerul Baia Mare's Cazimir Adomniței made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jan Popowicz was left in no man's land by his defense there! 14 minutes into the game, Cazimir Adomniței cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Jan Popowicz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Valer Neicu kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in MINERUL BALAN's zone, Ionel Ciompec stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jan Popowicz came out of the goal and Ionel Ciompec tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Minerul Baia Mare's Calistrat Pascaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tudor Chiose in the 25th minute of play. Mihail Ionescu hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the MINERUL BALAN defense, Cristi Chiriloaie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jan Popowicz. The MINERUL BALAN fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan Popowicz should have stopped the shot. When Toader Oniga came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Minerul Baia Mare fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toader Oniga couldn't finish the play. In the 33rd minute, Hampus Lindgren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 37 minutes, Tudor Chiose managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. MINERUL BALAN's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tudor Chiose was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jan Popowicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toader Oniga in the 41st minute of the match. 46 minutes into the match, MINERUL BALAN's goal looked a bit too open when Ionică Nacu came free, but Jan Popowicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jan Popowicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cazimir Adomniței in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Minerul Baia Mare were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Cazimir Adomniței made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cazimir Adomniței got free with Jan Popowicz in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jan Popowicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrés Silvera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 58 minutes into the game, Feliciano Bernat was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MINERUL BALAN's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Minerul Baia Mare the free kick. In the 65th minute, Emilian Apolzan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Calistrat Pascaru was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Jan Popowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cazimir Adomniței, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Jan Popowicz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ionică Nacu in the 70th minute. Minerul Baia Mare's Calistrat Pascaru played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hampus Lindgren in the 71st minute of play. Andrés Silvera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Jan Popowicz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emilian Apolzan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jan Popowicz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cazimir Adomniței in the 78th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pascal Massenhove in the 81st minute of play forced Minerul Baia Mare's goalkeeper Calistrat Pascaru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 82nd minute of the match MINERUL BALAN got a corner. Minerul Baia Mare's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pascal Massenhove ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cazimir Adomniței could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Jan Popowicz made a huge save. Calistrat Pascaru showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hampus Lindgren, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 86th minute, Hampus Lindgren made a precise shot to the right of Calistrat Pascaru. Minerul Baia Mare's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Jan Popowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrés Silvera, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. 94 minutes into the match, Minerul Baia Mare's goal looked a bit too open when Emilian Apolzan came free, but Calistrat Pascaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Minerul Baia Mare had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
