Wodonga United's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernest Pegrum was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dan Richard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 10 minutes into the match, Mellis's goalkeeper Dan Richard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Berkeley Loch. In the 13th minute, Erivaldo Linhares ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexander Baxter was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 21st minute, Wodonga United's Brad Colling ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dan Richard. Dan Richard yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. After 25 minutes, Erivaldo Linhares made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Wodonga United's Alexander Baxter tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 27th minute, Erivaldo Linhares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 29th minute, Cirilo Ciceron left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mellis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. The supporters of Mellis booed when Wodonga United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brennan Munday didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexander Baxter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cirilo Ciceron, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Erivaldo Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mellis's supporters rose to their feet, but Erivaldo Linhares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexander Baxter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kleanthis Nestoridis, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Cirilo Ciceron scored 1-4 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alexander Baxter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Berkeley Loch made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Kleanthis Nestoridis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alexander Baxter. That made the score 1-5 in the 55 minute of play. Dan Richard didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bradford Haskell went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-5 was the resulting score. Alexander Baxter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kleanthis Nestoridis in the 62nd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Erivaldo Linhares took a quick shot and it went in 2-6 without a chance for Alexander Baxter to make any attempt to save it. Cirilo Ciceron might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alexander Baxter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cirilo Ciceron ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brennan Munday during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Brennan Munday kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. A collision led to Mellis getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Cirilo Ciceron hit a great ball. 74 minutes into the match, Erivaldo Linhares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alexander Baxter. Wodonga United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erivaldo Linhares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-8. Alexander Baxter was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Erivaldo Linhares showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-9 in the 79 minute of play. In the 83rd minute Bradford Haskell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Richard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kleanthis Nestoridis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Alexander Baxter made a huge save. After 87 played minutes Cirilo Ciceron rounded Wodonga United's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-10. In the 90th minute, Bradford Haskell left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wodonga United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-10. 94 minutes into the match, Wodonga United's goal looked a bit too open when Erivaldo Linhares came free, but Alexander Baxter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alexander Baxter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cirilo Ciceron in the 97th minute. The Wodonga United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mellis were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
