Martin Legg made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Brad Colling's late challenge caught a Ridgley's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brad Colling helped the player get up and apologised. In the 21st minute, Brad Colling hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matthias Renny in the 24th minute of play forced Wodonga United's goalkeeper Alexander Baxter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Wodonga United defense, Matthias Renny kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexander Baxter. The Wodonga United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexander Baxter should have stopped the shot. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Berkeley Loch to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Matthias Renny got free with Alexander Baxter in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Wodonga United getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Todd Brennand hit a great ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ridgley's Jacob Connolly slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alexander Baxter. That made the score 1-6 after 60 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abe Burtt in the 66th minute of play forced Wodonga United's goalkeeper Alexander Baxter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Earnest Algoud could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Alexander Baxter made a huge save. Brad Colling fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martin Legg having to interfere. Ridgley's Martin Legg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berkeley Loch in the 71st minute of play. In the 76th minute, Jacob Connolly reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Alexander Baxter. The goal made the score 1-7. Earnest Algoud's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 80thth minute, Alexander Baxter skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Wodonga United's Alexander Baxter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacob Connolly in the 81st minute of play. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Matthias Renny took a quick shot and it went in 1-8 without a chance for Alexander Baxter to make any attempt to save it. Abe Burtt hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. 96 minutes into the match, Berkeley Loch notched a goal, 2-8, to the right of Ridgley's Martin Legg. Martin Legg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ridgley's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
