After 30 played minutes Hungary got a freekick which was hit by Áron Bódog. Romania's attentive Gigi Joanță managed to snatch the ball when Álmos Koós made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. In the 39th minute of the match Romania got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Corneliu Cozac ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Gigi Joanță got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Arnold Szuper quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 40th minute of the match Romania got a corner. Hungary's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Corneliu Cozac ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Corneliu Cozac almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hungary's Arnold Szuper did a great save. The supporters of Hungary booed when Romania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gigi Joanță didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Gregorio Montez made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Gigi Joanță hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hungary's Áron Bódog managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Gigi Joanță in the 57 minute of the game. Dorel Bolborici showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregorio Montez, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Hungary made a substitution. László Gácsi replaced Gregorio Montez. Hungary's Lajos Szatmári was substituted for Áron Bódog. After 69 minutes Romania's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sebestyén Soós who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Sebestyén Soós almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Romania's Dorel Bolborici did a great save. In the 73rd minute, Iustin Bâru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Romania fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 79th minute, Romania's Iustin Bâru ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnold Szuper. Arnold Szuper yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Emanuel Mălăele might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arnold Szuper. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Emanuel Mălăele ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 87th minute Iustin Bâru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnold Szuper saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dorel Bolborici showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from László Gácsi in the 88th minute of the match. Iustin Bâru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Arnold Szuper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iustin Bâru in the 91st minute of play. In the 94th minute, Iustin Bâru ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnold Szuper was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. When the final whistle sounded Romania left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Hungary.
