The Romania fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when Romania's Iustin Bâru looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 6 minutes into the match, Iustin Bâru notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Serbia's Jeremije Mirković. Jeremije Mirković was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 11th minute Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cătălin Răduleț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cătălin Răduleț made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Grgur Ćulibrk sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Serbia's Lazar Cukić got a free kick in the 17th minute. Iustin Bâru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Grgur Ćulibrk could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Cătălin Răduleț made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dušan Vlahovic got free with Cătălin Răduleț in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo in the 35th minute of play forced Romania's goalkeeper Cătălin Răduleț to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dušan Vlahovic blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cătălin Răduleț having to make a save. Iustin Bâru's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jeremije Mirković read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute of the match Romania got a corner. Serbia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Francisc Turcu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Romania's Isac Zub was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jeremije Mirković in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 43 minutes into the game, Romania's Iustin Bâru nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jeremije Mirković made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Iustin Bâru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the match, Romania's goal looked a bit too open when Dušan Vlahovic came free, but Cătălin Răduleț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cătălin Răduleț took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dušan Vlahovic, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Iustin Bâru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jeremije Mirković showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iustin Bâru, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Romania's Cătălin Răduleț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo in the 59th minute of play. In the 64thth minute of the game Iustin Bâru who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Serbia's Jeremije Mirković was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 65th minute Rastko Santrač shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cătălin Răduleț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes in the game Lazar Cukić did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Ugochukwutubelum Antetokounmpo. 70 minutes into the match, Iustin Bâru had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jeremije Mirković. In the 85th minute, Răzvan Ioanițiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Romania fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-7. In the 89thth minute of the game Răzvan Ioanițiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Serbia's Jeremije Mirković was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
