Spectators: 7290 (Terracing: 5470, Seating: 1676, VIP seats: 144) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Afonsinho Gaspar took the kick off in the first half of the match. Maracanu's Manoel Vianna got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Afonsinho Gaspar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Carlinhos Linares made a huge save. Carlinhos Linares acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 9th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Raí Hermes. If Silvério Rossi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oswaldo de Carvalho hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After 18 minutes, Hudson Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Limoeiro and the Maracanu players grew even worse after the yellow card. Hudson Netto kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Juan Prata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manoel Vianna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Limoeiro getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Hudson Netto hit a great ball. Chiquinho Bueno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Gino de Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Limoeiro's supporters rose to their feet, but Gino de Lara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlinhos Linares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dieguinho da Fonseca kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After having played for 47 minutes, Manoel Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maracanu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manoel Vianna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Manoel Vianna made a kick off. Silvério Rossi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carlinhos Linares having to interfere. Hudson Netto got his second yellow card in the match during the 56th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 56th minute, Hudson Netto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carlinhos Linares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvério Rossi in the 61st minute of the match. In the 65th minute, Dieguinho da Fonseca left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Limoeiro fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Silvério Rossi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlinhos Linares having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Silvério Rossi managed to get in a good position for a shot. After a defensive mix-up in Maracanu's zone, Silvério Rossi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlinhos Linares came out of the goal and Silvério Rossi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
