Marco Alcântara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vladimir Nunes in the 10th minute of the match. Silvinho Valadares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hílton Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Fausto Abreu in the 14thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Silvinho Valadares, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Filipe Mello kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Maracanu's goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Nunes came free, but Marco Alcântara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, União Bandeirante F.C.'s Toninho Bastos got a free kick in the 21st minute. Silvinho Valadares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hílton Maciel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind União Bandeirante F.C.'s goalkeeper Silvinho Valadares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 33 minutes of play, União Bandeirante F.C.'s Vladimir Nunes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The Maracanu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. União Bandeirante F.C.'s Silvinho Valadares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hílton Maciel in the 94th minute of play. The supporters of Maracanu booed when União Bandeirante F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilson Zanette didn't get a good kick on the ball.
