With a couple of smart ball manuevers Petruț Spirache in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tomás Jerano saved ACF Fiorentina from getting behind. The supporters of Club Atlético Lanús booed when ACF Fiorentina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victorino Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Lanús's Petruț Spirache sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tomás Jerano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petruț Spirache in the 33rd minute of play forced ACF Fiorentina's goalkeeper Tomás Jerano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Sixto Godoy recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tomás Jerano. Sixto Godoy showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. If Petruț Spirache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Petruț Spirache was the one to do the kick off. Tomás Jerano came out of the goal and Petruț Spirache tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 95th play minutes Petruț Spirache shot 6-0, a short shot which went by Tomás Jerano and just under the crossbar into goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Club Atlético Lanús fully deserved thier win.
