But to his dismay, Noé Debrie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Paul-Émile Mathelin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noé Debrie in the 21st minute of the match. 22 minutes into the game, FC Saubrigues's Aymerick Mey nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paul-Émile Mathelin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Noé Debrie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paul-Émile Mathelin having to interfere. Paul-Émile Mathelin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noé Debrie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Stade Rennais's goal looked a bit too open when Michaël Casoni came free, but Paul-Émile Mathelin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 32 minutes, Ronald Carrere managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paul-Émile Mathelin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michaël Casoni, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-7 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Noé Debrie was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Harold Le Hir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul-Émile Mathelin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Noé Debrie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paul-Émile Mathelin came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Saubrigues's Noé Debrie. But to his dismay, Noé Debrie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Aymerick Mey put it in 0-10 from a short distance just to the right of Paul-Émile Mathelin. Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronald Carrere in the 71st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aymerick Mey in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paul-Émile Mathelin saved Stade Rennais from getting behind. 74 minutes in the game, Aymerick Mey dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After some careless play in the Stade Rennais defense, Aymerick Mey kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paul-Émile Mathelin. The Stade Rennais fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paul-Émile Mathelin should have stopped the shot. Dwi Yuwana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from René Argentin in the 82nd minute of play. Paul-Émile Mathelin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronald Carrere in the 83rd minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Ronald Carrere kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Paul-Émile Mathelin. That made the score 0-14 in the 84 minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Stade Rennais's goal looked a bit too open when Noé Debrie came free, but Paul-Émile Mathelin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 90th play minutes Noé Debrie shot 0-15, a short shot which went by Paul-Émile Mathelin and just under the crossbar into goal. Stade Rennais's Paul-Émile Mathelin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Stade Rennais from getting a goal against them. If Ronald Carrere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Saubrigues's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
