After 12 played minutes U21 Greece got a freekick which was hit by Virgill van Dijk. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kyriakos Paltoudakis in the 15th minute of play forced U21 Germany's goalkeeper Jukka Käss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute, Che Doderer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
