Seating: 1186, VIP seats: 103) U21 France's Lenny Hoarau started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lenny Hoarau in the 8th minute of play forced U21 Colombia's goalkeeper Domingos Turienzo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 9 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for U21 France! After a rather tough play, U21 Colombia's Soter Mobellan got a free kick in the 12th minute. Domingos Turienzo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lenny Hoarau, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 23rd match minute, U21 Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Richie Ray to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ruben Blades in the 25th minute of play forced U21 France's goalkeeper Augustin Lannuzel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 26 played minutes U21 France got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Monvoisin. Augustin Lannuzel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruben Blades, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 29th match minute, U21 Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raimundo Rapela to maneuver through the defense. After 31 played minutes U21 Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Ruben Blades. Ruben Blades received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Augustin Lannuzel came out and tried to block the shot, but Ruben Blades slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 35th minute. 40 minutes into the match, U21 France's goal looked a bit too open when Ruben Blades came free, but Augustin Lannuzel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristiano Ronaldinho succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 42nd playminute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.
U21 France's Gaétan Jeannot was substituted for Tony Laurenceau. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristiano Ronaldinho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Ludovic Chesne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 57thth minute of the game Cristiano Ronaldinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 France's Augustin Lannuzel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. U21 Colombia's Bala Veloz was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Augustin Lannuzel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 62 minutes, Cristiano Ronaldinho made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. U21 France's Augustin Lannuzel tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. U21 Colombia's Matxin Curro was substituted for Zaquiel Puredo. U21 Colombia's Hechter Lastras was substituted for Ruben Blades. U21 Colombia's Don Gato was substituted for Cristiano Ronaldinho. U21 France made a substitution. Thierry Henri replaced Ryan Monvoisin. Domingos Turienzo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thierry Henri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind U21 France's goalkeeper Augustin Lannuzel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 86th minute of the match U21 Colombia got a corner. U21 France's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bala Veloz ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to U21 Colombia getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Hartz Orodea hit a great ball. After 90 played minutes U21 Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Hechter Lastras. Domingos Turienzo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thierry Henri's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. Augustin Lannuzel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hechter Lastras in the 96th minute of the match. Soter Mobellan's late challenge caught a U21 France's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Soter Mobellan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 97th minute, Soter Mobellan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thierry Henri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Domingos Turienzo made a huge save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The U21 Colombia fans cheered their team off the field, for while U21 France had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
