Honduras's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Xavion Pestaña scored to the left of an out of position Franklin Paredes, making the score, 1-0. 12 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Mario Hernández came free, but Platon Balanzuela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 13 minutes into the game, Paolo Rivero threw the ball into play from the sideline. Paraguay's Francisco Antonio Gomez Blanco quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The audience was convinced that Xavion Pestaña's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Franklin Paredes was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Ado Dueñas helped the player get up and apologised. After 43 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Ado Dueñas. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mario Hernández made a kick off. Franklin Paredes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ado Dueñas in the 53rd minute of the match. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Honduras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Lapurdi Jaramillo was slow to take the kick. During this time Paraguay's players had a chance to rest. In the 61st minute of the match Paraguay got a corner. Honduras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lapurdi Jaramillo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Xavion Pestaña received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Franklin Paredes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Honduras's Elias Villatoro was substituted for Alexander Brizuela. 71 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goalkeeper Platon Balanzuela had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mario Hernández. Mario Hernández received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Platon Balanzuela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Honduras's goalkeeper Franklin Paredes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Franklin Paredes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adan Juarrero went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. 80 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Adan Juarrero came free, but Franklin Paredes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute, Adan Juarrero left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paraguay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adan Juarrero in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Franklin Paredes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 85 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Paraguay's Adan Juarrero fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Franklin Paredes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adan Juarrero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Adan Juarrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Honduras's Orlando Villatoro was substituted for Mario Hernández. If Ado Dueñas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 98th minute, Adan Juarrero ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Franklin Paredes was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. When the referee blew the final whistle, Paraguay could leave the field as winners, despite Honduras having more of the ball for most of the match.
