In the 10th minute Volker Mahr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Žolt Narobe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mitija Artnak charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mitija Artnak the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Mitija Artnak hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Piet Reumann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Žolt Narobe having to interfere. Žolt Narobe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Romed Scheuer, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 22 minutes into the match, U21 Slovenia's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Hägele came free, but Žolt Narobe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Žolt Narobe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wim Hägele went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Amar Janežič hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 25th match minute, U21 Slovenia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zejnel Dobnik to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Nils Tappeser managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Germany's supporters rose to their feet, but Nils Tappeser was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Žolt Narobe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Timo Werner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th minute Vojislav Šarić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar Rahne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute Wim Hägele shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Žolt Narobe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wim Hägele took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Žolt Narobe. Žolt Narobe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Žolt Narobe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Piet Reumann's shot from short distance in the 46th minute. After 47 played minutes U21 Slovenia got a freekick which was hit by Mitija Artnak. Nils Tappeser recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of U21 Germany booed when U21 Slovenia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Goražd Flakus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thaddäus Kloppers came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Žolt Narobe could save by the left post. Thaddäus Kloppers took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Žolt Narobe. Žolt Narobe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. In the 59th minute, one of U21 Slovenia:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for U21 Slovenia. Žolt Narobe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Volker Mahr, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Žolt Narobe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Volker Mahr, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Žolt Narobe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romed Scheuer in the 72nd minute. U21 Slovenia's Žolt Narobe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Volker Mahr in the 73rd minute of play. With a little luck, U21 Slovenia's Žolt Narobe got control of the ball when Volker Mahr tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tomen Peterka hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Wim Hägele could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Žolt Narobe made a huge save. A collision led to U21 Slovenia getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Zejnel Dobnik hit a great ball. Nils Tappeser succeeded in the game's 89th minute to get real power on a long shot . U21 Slovenia's Žolt Narobe hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 0-5! Žolt Narobe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Volker Mahr in the 94th minute. U21 Germany's Thaddäus Kloppers shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 98th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Žolt Narobe but with some difficulty. The U21 Slovenia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. U21 Germany were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
