The supporters of U21 Malaysia booed when U21 Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betadur Nembro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Ferry Priyatno had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bautista Mogrovejo. U21 Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ferry Priyatno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Syakir Ali took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Bautista Mogrovejo to make any attempt to save it. In the 19th minute Sipiongot Hidayat shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bautista Mogrovejo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vela Mancina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fadhly Muchtaji having to interfere. Fadhly Muchtaji made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Betadur Nembro in the 29th minute of play. Syakir Ali made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 33rdth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Bautista Mogrovejo would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 34 minutes into the game, U21 Peru's Vela Mancina nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fadhly Muchtaji made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beltran Eguilaz during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, U21 Peru's Beltran Eguilaz got a free kick in the 38th minute. Aznaro Caraveo hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The audience held their breath when Tiar Cahyono Putro in the 41st minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Bautista Mogrovejo's left hand side. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Bautista Mogrovejo successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Vela Mancina made the kick off in the second half. Ferry Priyatno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bautista Mogrovejo having to interfere. In the 58th minute Jerico Barruso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fadhly Muchtaji saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bautista Mogrovejo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Syakir Ali, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vela Mancina in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fadhly Muchtaji prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 67 minutes into the match, U21 Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Ferry Priyatno came free, but Bautista Mogrovejo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76thth minute of the game Syakir Ali who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Peru's Bautista Mogrovejo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 78 minutes into the match, U21 Peru's Benigno Urruchua sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fadhly Muchtaji narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 79 minutes U21 Malaysia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marino Pacheco who took care of the corner kick. Benigno Urruchua blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fadhly Muchtaji having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benigno Urruchua got free with Fadhly Muchtaji in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ferry Priyatno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the U21 Malaysia defense, Benigno Urruchua kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fadhly Muchtaji. The U21 Malaysia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fadhly Muchtaji should have stopped the shot. U21 Malaysia were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing U21 Peru to leave the ground with a draw.
