mattsadler - 13-03-2012 23:40Didn't know you couldn't start up an academy without any squad value. Have you tried support? You could ask iblocha (SPL), he's Scottish GA.

downeseymc - 14-03-2012 16:25You can start youths up between round 1-2 and 11-12. But note if you get 22 youth players and there total value is 300,000GBP you can't bid on any players over that price!

@rangersfc2, my initial thought was that you initially have to buy players before you can set up your youth academy. For old accounts, you can only get more youth players during week 1 and 2 or 11 and 12.
However, I double checked the manual and it states that new teams can always start up their youth program regardless of which week it is, please refer to the extract below for more information.
"How do I get youth players?
You change or start up your youth squad by going to Office -> Finances -> Education. If you start from 0 youth you will have to pay ~€20,000 as a start up fee. You may only increase the youth education during week 1 and 2 or 11 and 12 of each season. New teams can always start up their youth program regardless of which week it is."
I reviewed your details and it appears that you registered your account a couple of years ago so I suspect your account is not considered as a new one. Hence, you can only get new youth players during week 1/2 or 11/12.
I have requested clarification from my admin colleagues so hopefully we can respond your query shortly.

He's indeed not a new user so thats why he can't start his academy.
He should be able to buy players though. There's a minimum each team can bid regardless of his teamvalue. I think it was 100.000 Euro.
So he should try to to get teamvalue by buying real crap players... eg on hockey try to buy 7 or 8 GK's to win value fast.

Just set up a youth academy when it is round 1 !! Your team value will be £400,000 Gbp then you can't start bidding on players up to the value of £400,000 Gbp while the youths are training you can buy other players to play league games.
It is really simple.. You can't start a YA up yet as it is Round 17 ... Wait another 5 rounds and you will be OK...

Managerzone limits the amount teams can bid based on their total official squad value as follows
all teams can at least bid 71 148 GBP (950.000 SEK).
if squad value is above 1 497 850 GBP (20.000.000 SEK) teams can bid whatever they like.
in between the 2 amounts they can bid what their squad value is.
