Politicians long ago stopped being elected because they understood civil society and law.
With "modern" democratic systems, if you can shake the right hands, while pacifying the right tempers and not getting caught with your hand in the jar, anyone can succeed in politics...

Single issue candidates, at least according to my poli-sci prof, tend to be terrible leaders on anything other than said issue, lending weight to Michel Sapin.
Gonna have to expand the reputa, and apparently the influence in british tab.. er national news networks. Still only one of those, right?

The saddest failure of an ex-footballer trying to become President of their country will remain George Weah regardless.

nah , he has that dumb surfer look, he will either end up as a club rep on ibiza, or a life gaurd on Brighton beach , although, i do think he would do ok on supermarket commercials..
