Hockey tactic orders?

How much difference does it make where you put your players in the tactic boxes? I imagine it would make sense if you could differentiate between attacking and defending tactics. And, why do my defensemen always pass outside of the attacking zone after a faceoff? Should I put them at least further forward? I suppose I should just experiment and see what happens.

Good luck with that, I have tryed and can't tell any discernable difference in play when in different spots, I haven't seen anybody anywhere put out any info for hockey on this in real detail. When you buy a game from anywhere, board game, video game, yard game, whatever, it has instructions. Yet MZ doesn't see that if they put more info out there for us to digest they might get more PAYING members.
As far as your defenseman I think its all PI and passing causing that, my smarter defenseman shoot most of the time on faceoffs, which isn't a bad thing but would be nicer if one-timers and redirects where in effect.

I think you summed it up given the amount of reads vs. responses on this question.

if a person believes the positioning in the tactic boxes makes no difference, that is what they will find when they "try it out." If a person believes it does make a difference, that is what they will find when they "try it out." I don't believe either without a reason, and I am still trying it out when I have the time. Experimenting and seeing what you see still sounds like the best idea.
