Federation clashes and Beta: ask your questions here!

Badge image
In the article posted today (here: https://www.managerzone.com/?p=news&nid=110716) we have gone through the new clash feature and provided some dates regarding the beta. Please read through that article if you haven’t already.

We are aware that this might seem like a daunting new feature, so we encourage you to ask questions here if things are unclear. Note that we have intentionally left out information regarding the new federation league table and ranking, to avoid dropping too much information at once. In this thread, we would ideally like to discuss the following things:

- How to set your federation first team up to play clashes
- How to play clashes
- And questions regarding the Beta which will be launched next week (at which point we will also provide more detailed information regarding the beta)

Also be aware that we might not be able to answer questions during evenings and weekends, but we will do our best to answer all your questions as quickly as we can.

I don't know if this is a known bug or if it is a "feature" but..

One user of my federation did a "Federation Clash Scout Match" and selected the option that this match should be "Visible For First Team"

His game shows on the summary of games in the bottom table of the Current Clash page but if I click on it, I am redirected to my matches page, and if I try to watch it on 2D or 3D it tells me I have no rights.

I would expect I should be able to watch everything related to that match since I am a member of the first team and that option has been selected.

So is this a known issue?

We will take a look at this, thank you!

I think that we have come to a place in time where we need to transfer this thread from the ”beta” and ask questions around how the clashes work to instead to be about the next phase.

Currently there are two important topics where it would be great to hear the thoughts from you in crew.

1. There is a big need to do something about the fact that a federation can only have one ”first team” It would be easy to have even more teams joining the clashes if you allowed a federation to have ”second team” and ”third team” This would make it possible for more teams that wants to be able to represent its federation.

2. Develop clashes into a system that is not only senior players. I think most agree that gordolas Defasio has a much more depth to the challenge that better mirrors the strenght of a federation. Why not have a 12 seniors, 2u23 and 2u21 for example in a clash?

Another way of course would be to have pure uxx clashes but looking again at defasio I think mixed clashes would be so much more fun.

And we are here for the fun right?

I do agree, actually, that this might be a good way forward. We have several ideas regarding extra teams and how they might be used, not just youth teams but also a B-team, for instance (which an never play in the same division as the A-team). However I don't think this is really urgent, we want to take some time and evaluate the Federations League and the First Team feature as a whole, how it is being used and what the main considerations are. I mean do we want more than 16 users representing one federation (if we allow for multiple First Teams), or do we want many federations instead? The first option might lead to a few mega-federations which everyone want to join. We also have to be careful to not make the whole system too complex. So we need to think carefully and make observations before making any drastic changes like that, and I personally think there are other more useful/important updates to do before considering this type of update.

Dear Crew, could you include Federations League in Season Break Schedule?

This is a good idea, thank you.

I also want to inform everyone that we are planning on creating an overview page for the Federations League (similar to the overview page for the World and Youth leagues) where you will be able to see a bunch of info that is currently a little difficult to fin, such as deadlines, when next season will start, previous winners etc. There will be a bunch of useful info on that page that'll make it easier for federations to plan and react.

We have two rounds of clashes within the week. The first round starts on Tuesday, and the second on Friday. The first one lasts for 3 days, and the second one for 4 days.

I believe people have more time on the weekend, so the clash starting on Friday could be shorter (3 days).

Can we move the start of one of the rounds from Tuesday to Monday?

Nice!

I'm so looking forward to seeing that the Romanian Hockey Federation are the first Champions in history! 💪😎

Is there a chance to see some prizes or more income?

Thank you!

I haven't realised that, but if that's true, I think it's a good idea.

Dear good afternoon, can you add the number of the round that is being set to the screen that I attach the image?

Thanks

Good afternoon. I have a recommendation to make regarding the time the clashes end. For Latinamericans it is a disadvantage that they finish at 5 am while for Europeans in the worst case it is between 8 and 10 am or for Asians between 5 and 7 pm. If it closed at 3 pm CEST the same would not happen and it would not imply advantages for Europeans or Asians, as well as a real disadvantage for Latin Americans.

Finally, the league system will consist of a pyramid, with one Elite Division, two Division 1 groups, four Division 2 groups, eight Division 3 groups, and so on. At the end of each season, three federations will be promoted and six from each group will be relegated (with the exception of the Elite division, which cannot be promoted, and the lowest division, which cannot be relegated).

Hello, isn't it too much for 6 teams to go down? I think the ideal is for 4 teams to go down and only 2 per division to go up, otherwise half of the league goes down!

Hi crew, the same team climb, the next season down.

Can you tell me if you conside change in hockey?

Can we have 2 tactic slots for THEIR CHALLENGES:
- primary
- second (because opposite team can change slot for second game)
- third for Key Member

It is up to us to decide whether we will play both games with the same tactics, or prepare a surprise for the second one.
After the first match, the challenger always knows the competitor's tactics for the second match. In this way, we have uncertainty for the second match as well.

This seems like a good idea to add both the round and the season, and I wouldn't mind seeing the league division group (with link) as well. I will add this to our to do-list.

It is a good point and we will consider it going forward. However I want to stress that there are lots of things happening when rounds begin and end, not least around the end of Federations League seasons. It does make sense to align the deadlines with our timezone from a development standpoint to help us better support the game.

It is also easier for teams of players to collaborate if the deadlines are always the same. In the regular individual league this is not an issue, because everyone only manage their own team. But in team-based competitions, fluctuating deadlines might become a real source of confusion and annoyance.

We discussed this a lot internally and came to the conclusion that we want bigger movements up and down in these collaboration type contests. Main reason is that federations might very quickly become very strong or very weak, should users decide to move from one federation to another. In individual contests the issue is not quite the same: yes, you can sell all your players and get a very weak team overnight, but you will have received money for those players, so your progression is retained. In federation first teams, progress is not retained in the same way. For that reason we want to have a flexible league system where federations quickly get to the level they should be based on their current strength, if that makes sense.

It is an interesting idea, but I don't like it. Reason is, the first challenge acts as a sort of scout match, which gives a user something to analyze and react to. The second match is where a manager with a lot of tactical knowledge, who is experienced and knows their team well, can really shine. And I think that is an important part of clashes, and of ManagerZone overall.

parece que la crew no lee los mensajes de cierta parte del continente. Ya varias veces se pidio lo mismo y hacen la vista gorda deben pensar que es divertido estar durmiendo cuando se define el clash....

There's no point in changing the time of the clashes.
And the managers are already used to these schedules.

Everyone has the same time to do the challenges.
So the Europeans have no advantage and the other continents have no disadvantage.

What do you mean? all American countries are sleeping at 5am, we have a huge disadvantage with the ending time of clashes. The half of the world is sleeping and you think is fair? Why don't you set it at 12am CEST when the day changes in Europe or 2pm CEST when all the world is awake. This needs to be changed asap

This has to be change asap, you have half of the world sleeping at the current ending time its a huge disadvantage for all American countries. Hope you can change it to 2pm CEST o 3pm CEST when all the world is awake. Thanks

I don't think so.
We have the same amount of time for the clashes, so it's not unfair on anyone.
We are not talking about one day, we are talking about 3/4 days.
Its enough time to do the challenges.

Federations wait till last minute to play some matches, no matter if they have 3, 4 or 7 days to play.

The final deadline time is the issue here, not the amount of time or days we all have to play. The federation clash is a very strategic game and good federations wait until the last minute to play their matches and use the key member matches to define a possible winner. If we are all sleeping on this side of the globe this cant be done, so if for you its the same and for us its unfair, just change it and problem solve everyone will be happy. This is a issue that needs to be attended and maybe it was overlook when it was first implemented. Thanks

Just want to check as of today.

If I set up a new federation before the new season.

When will it be eligible for fed clashes?

Thanks

You can check the Federations League overview page to get that type of information. 😊
