Federation clashes and Beta: ask your questions here!

Badge image
In the article posted today (here: https://www.managerzone.com/?p=news&nid=110716) we have gone through the new clash feature and provided some dates regarding the beta. Please read through that article if you haven’t already.

We are aware that this might seem like a daunting new feature, so we encourage you to ask questions here if things are unclear. Note that we have intentionally left out information regarding the new federation league table and ranking, to avoid dropping too much information at once. In this thread, we would ideally like to discuss the following things:

- How to set your federation first team up to play clashes
- How to play clashes
- And questions regarding the Beta which will be launched next week (at which point we will also provide more detailed information regarding the beta)

Also be aware that we might not be able to answer questions during evenings and weekends, but we will do our best to answer all your questions as quickly as we can.

Creating a federation will still cost money, that part will not change at all. However, everyone will be able to join one federation and compete for it, once the feature has been launched.

Question: As team leader, I now appoint the 16 members of the first team. What happens to the other 30 members of my association? Do they have to found a new association to create their own team?

As i understood, seems only 16 members can join competitions so i think the answer is YES they have to go elsewhere

Only 16 can represent the federation in any one clash. You can either rotate members between clashes, or you can start a new federation and call this your B team, or you will probably need to accept that some of your members will choose to represent a different federation. They can still be part of your federation though, and take part in the community features, that won't change. But a user can only make themself available as first team member for one federation at a time.

For me as I have no seniors its just another big bag of bollocks and a total waste of time. Powersnow when will the SIM be updated so all the top world leagues from premiers to Div 2 are not all filled with wing teams, are crew and the owners all blind? cant you see there is a huge problem with the SIM that's been around for well over 10 seasons. I think you can see but you just do not care.

Will crew not be happy till all leagues and all managers are using wings only as a tactic, if so SP teams will eventually get so frustrated with the SIM that they will leave to find a much more affordable and equal exp where all teams and players are actually equal unlike this game where wings rules, Just check the WL leagues from prem to div 2 and try and dare to say that I'm wrong.

I'm currently in a div1 u21 league where all teams are wings apart from me who is SP only. I just cant be arsed to fight and waste tokens on scout games as eventually i would have been relegated, so I've chosen to throw every game and will continue to do so when i reach div1 or above in seniors u21 and u23's., why you ask, because I'm effing frustrated with CREW and THE SIM.

Ive 3 NE season tickets available and when they are gone I will definitely leave those leagues and will not join any of those leagues again (I cant bring myself to fund a game where the owners do not care}, and its all down too crews broken promises when you said several season ago that updates to the SIM were coming, WHERE THE SHITTING SHIT BISCUITS are they?, Wish I had copied and pasted what was said so i could show you what crew promised.

Will crew try and stop a SP team from leaving, will they? will they fecker's like, why because they are afraid to lose current managers that play wings, but in not doing so they will lose a lot of SP managers. The Divisions are shrinking and here is another manager that will bite the dust and it will save me a lot of money when that happens, least I will be richer for it.

At least throw all SP managers some crumbs so we can live in hope which wiil eventually die when updates don't materialize, throw us something and don't dare say play wings.

Running on bare minimum tokens till |I spontaneously combust.

Hooters.

This is also a good idea and something that we have been talking about. It could even be that you must take x players from each team to set up a star team.

As with a lot of new features, we want to optimize it based on your feedback. The beta season will be a good way for us to get feedback from you on what works and what we can improve.

We hope that this will be widely used and appreciated, not only because it gives you a new element of the game, but also since the feature is free for everyone to play. We hope that it will be a funnel for new users to ease their onboarding of the game.

It really is that MZ has been discontinued for years.
By this time we should have a touch of MZ in a blockchain to charge for selling other equipment in the game and be able to buy. It is already so that if a First League team remains inactive for more than two seasons, its players are put up for direct sale so that they can be signed. It is already for MZ to mature and organize itself and also to benefit its player users. If MZ makes a touch to pay for the sale of equipment and even for a percentage for the sale of star players, perhaps this game would be more competitive and they will not complicate us with absurd changes that already in case there is no benefit to these nonsense that do now with the league of federations, what is the benefit of the players? None. Just buy tokens for you 😉

What is the minimum number of players a president can call up to play a challenge?

Can I use the wildcard in every match or is it only one wildcard per season?

How many federations will participate in each zone?

How will it be defined which federations will participate in Zone A or Zone 1?

How many relegations and promotions will we have per season?

Do you need any help?
Can we collaborate in any way?

Great to see crew actively responding in the forum - thank you. I’ll start engaging again as a result.

However, my honest feedback re the update is I think federations are a limited distraction from the game’s main flaws and it’s frustrating to see more focus on these instead of on addressing the main game and the wing tactic imbalance.

Perhaps crew can start a separate thread with a timeline of plans for the match engine so we can have a constructive community conversation that allows this thread to focus on Federations.

I see any posts off topic are being ignored but they are valid concerns through the only channel available to users who want to see the game succeed. Please consider this and engage on this topic? 👍

Re: Federation clashes and Beta: ask your questions here!

Hello everyone!

I wish to say some things, and I hope I manage to do it in one post.

First, I would like to congratulate the Crew for the nice features added recently to the game.

But I wish to point out that some old features are desperately needing their attention as well.

1. The simulator in both sports need urgent update. The results are simply too weird. The randomness is way too high. It severely affects the hierarchies in all competitions for both the Clubs and the National Teams. I do acknowledge that in hockey a huge leap was made after removing the away boost, but there are still too many results when a team with 4-5 times the number of shots is losing. Even in RL, that's simply impossible. You simply can't lose a match with for e.g 15-3, 20-4, 25-5, 30-6, 35-7, 40-8 shots, as we often see.

2. We unanimously agreed long time ago that we need 2 extra reserves in football... and a reserve goalie spot in hockey would be nice too.

3. We were promised long time ago that the qualifications, the group stages and the playoffs will be settled according to the previous hierarchies of the specific competitions. The top seeded in group stage will remain top seeded in the playoffs. We were promised that the full hazard playoffs will be history.
We were promised...
I hope the Crew keeps their word on this one. We have been waiting patiently for years.

Just look at the Round of 16 at the currently finished World Cup 2023.
Romania faced Argentina in the Round of 16 even though both of them were top seeded. It was a shame that one of them had to leave the competition so prematurely just because of full hazard playoffs.
This problem is even worse when you look at the National Cups and the Official Cups. We often see 3 teams from the Top League fighting for 1 or 2 playoff spots in one group and 3 teams from the 3rd division fighting for the same thing in other group.

We were also promised that we won't see group stages with just one playoff spot. It should be at least 2. Competitions like Division Cup have only one playoff spot in the group stage, even though we know that the draws are full hazard. Many times the best two teams in the competition face each other in group stage and one is forced to be eliminated prematurely, it means out of the competition before it actually starts.

Top League Clubs have to eat, you know. Their finances depend directly on the incomes provided by these Official competitions. Top players have really high salaries. Except for selling some youth players, the Top League Clubs don't actually have other financial options. More than that, having a strong Top League team usually implies NOT having a strong U21 team, capable of earning income in the U21 competitions.

The U21 clubs are getting reacher and the Top League clubs are still struggling financially because of these full hazard playoffs.
I do acknowledge that it is much much better than a decade ago, when Top League Clubs were forced to sell every youth they had to avoid bankruptcy, but let's make the game fair for everyone.

MZ should be all about Fair Play, fair odds, and may the best team win.

Good luck and have fun!

Thank you.

Oh, sorry, almost forgot...

4. Introduce the direct matches tie breaker.

In the recently finished World Cup, Belgium was stripped away of a well deserved playoff spot after defeating Poland 2-0.
All respects for the Polish Community, but Belgium deserved that playoff spot and it was literally stolen from them by the random draw as tie breaker.

We already talked about this issue as well long time ago.
I remember we had a situation when two top teams faced the last seeded team and the last seeded team directly affected the final standings by simply playing and losing 0-10 vs. one team and 0-5 (walk over) vs. the other team in the last match. This way the team that won 10-0 actually got better goal difference by scoring more goals, even though the one that won 5-0 W.O. was better in the direct matches and also would have better goal difference IF the last seeded wouldn't have decided to affect the final standings.

I remember him addressing the support and nobody did anything about it. He then simply walked away from MZ, because it really was unfair. He never came back 'till this day. It was a real shame, because we are talking about Top Teams fighting for the Elite Cups.

I will try to put it in different words. As a team leader, you can choose two first team members who will be of extra importance to your team, and these two can play extra matches. Let's say there is a stalemate in a clash, everyone have played all their matches and it is a tie, 32-32. One of your members have lost a game against a fairly easy opponent, which really should have been a win. Now, one of your key members can go in and challenge this user, in the hope of winning the match. If the key member succeeds, you will now have a victory registered against this opponent. The new clash score will be 35-32 (since wins yield 4 points and losses 1).

I think you should see these new features as a foundation. Introducing first teams will unlock other opportunities down the line, since it opens up for federation vs federation competition. We have to start somewhere and the league structure (which we will talk more about later) is a first step on the way. Championship style competitions is certainly not out of the question.

And by the way, as we wrote in the news article, we really will follow discussions closely and also analyze how the features are actually being used, and then make changes which we think you guys want. I may also create other forum topics in the future and invite you in to help with the design process, like we did with the youth scout feature. But this is provided we can actually stay on topic and there is enough people in the community who want to be part of such discussion.

Sorry, I cut your quote off to save space. We are fully aware that a lot of people don't have senior teams and that MZ is a cyclical game. This is something that went in to the design process at a very early stage, and I think the first team / clashes setup will be able to cater for Uxx teams nicely. There are plans and ideas for how to branch out later, as we have done before with for instance World Leagues.

I also would like to point to the fact that these new features will be free to play in, and part of the reason for this is an ambition on our part to move into a direction where we can welcome more users into the game and give them a surrounding: a team of other users who might make them feel welcome, help them optimize their strategies and so on. So it is very much a part of our longer term strategy for the game.

In its' essence: you choose the federation you want to represent and they choose you. You then represent this federation by playing one or two matches clashes, which last for three or four days each. If you want to get involved and play clashes, this is really all you need to know.

However, in these early stages, a lot of the focus will be on the "administrative" side of things, since all of the federations will need to get up and running and organized. Once we add the new features, they will make a lot more sense. It is difficult to explain something which you cannot yet get a "trial and error" feel for. But we still wanted to give you something to read and think about, so you have a decent understanding before the features are launched. This will help speed things up.

Hello. I didn't mean to be off-topic. Maybe I didn't ask right.

I think that "a new level of dynamism to the core of the game" is a good thing.
I don't have the time to be active as I used to be, not to mention play Federation games, so...
My question was kind of like: What is the next thing that the Crew has in mind after finishing this feature?

Thank you.

gordola wrote:

Yes, that is fully allowed. The only limitation is that you can never represent several federations during one clash (all clashes will be at the exact same time). If you, during a clash, feel like you want to move to a different federation, you are free to do that. But if you go to "Current clash", you will still see the clash where you represent the federation you just left, and you can still play for that federation until the next clash starts.

gordola wrote:

I am actually going to get back to you on this one at a later point. 8 is the minimum for being allowed to take part in the league as a whole (if you don't have 8, your federation will be dropped out of the league during seasons break), but I believe you will be able to play individual clashes with fewer than that. I suspect this something we could all discuss together during the beta season. I would say however that anything below 14 members in a clash *will* hurt your chances of doing well in the federation league.

gordola wrote:
Can I use the wildcard in every match or is it only one wildcard per season?

It is two per clash. Two members can be chosen as key members for an upcoming clash and both those users can play against an additional opponent team. You can change these key members ahead of each clash, so it isn't something you only can set once per season. You might even WANT to change them ahead of each clash, depending on the opposition.

gordola wrote:
How many federations will participate in each zone?

I don't fully understand this question. But there will be no zones such as in the youth leagues. Just one league structure where all federations compete. If you are talking about division groups, there will be 24 teams in each group. The division tree will most likely look like this:
Division 1: 1 group
Division 2: 2 groups
Division 3: 4 groups
Division 4: 8 groups

Etc.

gordola wrote:
How will it be defined which federations will participate in Zone A or Zone 1?

I am going to assume you are talking about divisions. It is still to be decided how we will set up the initial structure. We have been talking about using the latter stages of the beta season to create some sort of seeding, which will allow us to fill out the divisions. But haven't decided anything yet, it really depends on how the beta season unfolds.

gordola wrote:

I will get back to you on this in the upcoming news article about the federation league and ranking.

gordola[b wrote:

Yes, I think so. It would be awesome if, during the beta seasons, we could have forum discussions (or polls) on certain matters and decide that way. But this is provided we can have these types of discussions without too many users going off-topic. I also want to say I really appreciate your questions and feedback, thank you!

I agree they are valid concerns but I also have to say it is disrespectful towards people who want to learn more about new the features and are excited about them, especially given that the thread topic is very clearly defined. I understand some users have concerns of their own but taking up enormous amount of space in order to "scream the loudest" in a completely off-topic manner is rarely constructive. Personally I like to collaborate with users ahead of new features and this type of behavior makes it difficult.

Thanks for the reply, I think it's a great feature that has been propossed many times and it's nice to see it implemented, it looks really fun and I would have loved it a few years ago but what I mean is that many users like myself achieved everything they can with this SIM and there's no way to provide a new challenge without a new SIM.

Sort of related old idea you might want to keep in mind since it's the kind of thing you guys seem to be looking for.... competitions for retired players.

Anyway, I understand what the objective of this thread is but understand that since crew participation is virtually non-existant when users see a crew member actually posting on the forum they will try to get heard about other issues, hopefully we'll see more crew participation on the forums to address the community as it's much needed.
