The almighty transfer market is dead

The Canadian Transfer Market has currently 4 players. One is mine.

It used to be 2 pages+, then at least 1 page. It pays not to have an android and iOS app.

RIP transfer market.

Raise more youths. 8 is not enough. Take 23.

Only 20 on the US market today. I'm hoping it's because everyone is waiting until after the mid-season challenge is over and the cash is flying around. I myself will be posting some after folks get their cash as it looks like I'm headed back down to D1 and might as well cash in and see if I can't stockpile some of the sponsor income for the rest of the season.

What do you call a lazy joey? A pouch potato.

I'm still waiting for a "reward" to be added in. In real life the club where the player has had his formation, gets a percentage on the sale of this player, each and every time the player is sold. I think this would stimulate more clubs to raise own youth players and sell them. It doesn't have to be a big percentage 5 or 10 seems fair.
For now the transfer markets are dead in almost all smaller (playerbase) countries.

This idea is great, but it's uncrew-able. Which means, crew will never do it.

What do you call an Aussie with half a brain ? Gifted.

It's another sindrome of a dieing game... and a very strong signal that something must still be done regarding small and medium countries. The foreigner rule, as it is now (with foreigners and residents), was a good address but still not enough.

PS: Aemi, you are Canadian or just a scorned expelled Aussie? Or French???

That's actually what helped kill the market, unless you're like me and try to be competitive at all levels, there's not a lot of incentive in training players if you're in a medium/small Country since nobody buys the average players, nobody needs local players now since you can field almost a full team of foreigners, that creates an overstock of average players and drives the prices down to the ground.

On the other hand, whenever there's a good player teams from all over the world compete for him and the prices get overinflated, basically what happened is that the price gap between average players and good/excellent got a lot wider and IMO that helped kill the market.

I put some good & decent players on the market cheap and nobody buys them, then recently I made the big mistake of placing a decent 24 y/old with 9 sp / 8 st / 9 sh / 7 ctrl / 6 pi unmaxed for $1 on the market thinking there was no risk as the market would set the price... and I got $116.000 for him minus 20% taxes, ending with about $90.000 on hand.... for that kind of money, I rather fire the player instead of selling him.

That's because players like this aren't worth much, it's an unfortunate reality of mediocre players. It's like saying how much would you pay for someone who is only ever going to be a backup. Sadly almost nothing, because how often do you need a backup player, the truth is once in a blue moon. So you may as well use a homegrown player, because we all have players like this.

I would have done the same as you did, list him for $1 and get whatever you can. No point keeping him any longer than you actually need him for a U/23 starting 11. Sadly that is the end of his career.

I reality he would still be able to earn a living in an obscure domestic league, but that isn't the game we play.

A player that has this skills now might be considered "mediocre" because there is an overstock of foreign players that you can add freely to your team, whether in the past with the 3 foreigners limit a player like this would have been considered an excellent domestic player.... and that's exactly what I meant when I said that lifting the foreigners limit is what killed the market, people just train less and less players as they don't see a return on their investment.

You can sell graduate players while unmaxed and hope to get good money, but to buy a "good" player considering the few they're and how much competition you'll have to get him, means you'll have to sell 3/4 very good unmaxed youths to buy an older player.

Luckily I'm pretty much self sufficient and very rarely I hit the market looking for players for my starting 11, but every time I do I can't buy nothing for less than $5M

I agree. Add to that the fact that the lower leagues are mostly in active which is where mediocre players used to sell to and you get a very lopsided market. If you're not selling a superstar it's hard to even get a nibble of interest in a player.

False advertising.

I just checked Aurel's "Forum Guidelines for the People" and lam broke rule 23.47, 53.85 (b) and 0.01 (a). The punishment shall be, relegation to div2.9. Ain't got time for no sheep!

And @lam, if that poor sheep is going for 1.5 mil, I will send you a kanga steak to feed your pet beaver.
