The U21 Hockey World Cup 2014 Qualification begins on the 11th of February and today the groups were drawn. Reigning Champions, Sweden, were drawn in Group 1 along with China, Spain, Canada, Scotland, Ireland and France Beaten 2013 finalists Poland were drawn in Group 5 along with Azerbaijan. Lithuania, Venezuela, Australia, Mexico and Moldova. To ensure active engagement in the U21 World Cup, only Countries with an elected National Coach were invited to participate. The Group stage has changed this year, with 8 larger groups instead of 16 small groups. The 4 top Teams in each group will qualify for the U21 World Cup 2014 Final. U21 World Cup 2013 placings are listed below along with each qualifying group , xx = did not qualify for the U21 World Cup Final. I wish we could be drawn in an easier group. Sweden, China, Spain and France are usually strong. We've beaten Scotland 9 nil and we've lost two times against Sweden.
