wheelie bins and recycling

Badge image
ok, the festivities are over, so lets get back to where we were, my problem is, that when wheelie bins first came in, i could not see the point in claiming one as your own as they were there and all the same,my retired next door neighbour became obsessive about making sure he had his wheelie bin back minutes after the garbage guys had finished with it, but he also became obsessive about returning mine too, so he noted to me that i had no ID on my bin, so ok, i put ID on my wheelie bin, we end that story and begin another one,so i also decided to put my house number on my recycling box, so i left my recycling box out full of empty guinness cans and old speckled hen, but somebody has taken it, so now i am caught in the spotlight of being tripped up by my neighbour with his ID policy and kicked in the teeth by another neighbour who may have a none ID policy, I am so very annoyed that some one has taken my box, i am so also very annoyed that after two weeks they have not had the decency to realise and return it, i am skulking around the estates like Robert D e Niro in T axi D river, am i within my rights, or did i get suckered right from the start, is placing your number on your wheelie bin and box a good idea, what should i do , please help me..

Alcohol is your friend in this situation...
A wheelie bin can be a crazy thing, if you care too much about it... you become your neighbour.

Someone taking your stuff is pretty messed up though, especially your wheelie bin.
I don't know what anyone can say to make it better though heddo.

Basically, a psycho in your neighbourhood, probably drunk, stole your wheelie bin. There's multiple outcomes of what may of happened while s/he was in possession of this 'bin' (which also explains why it hasn't been returned)

I think you can request a new one from the council without charge. Easier than going door to door trying to find yours.

Naming your bins isn't as silly as it sounds. Some people let theirs get into such a mess you wonder what they do with them.

ridiculous suggestion gpegs. I think (s)heddo here is just going about it in the wrong way.
Instead of prowling the neighbourhood like some caged panther/pedophile full of anger, searching for the culprit, you should simply head out after dark on bin night. NO! not to steal anyone else recycling box as that would be wrong.
Go out after dark armed with a black marker pen, and then write your address/number on lots of other peoples recycling boxes, then go home and wait. Just as the odds of a hoodlum/gang of recycling box thieves targeting your own box played out against you, you have now in fact turned the odds back into your favour.
Eventually you will write your number/address on a good samaritans/idiots box who will gladly arrive on your doorstep to return said box and collect their own, which they will have assumed to have been inexplicably involved in some form of mix up.
You then say thankyou, but i dont have your recycling box, roll your eyes skywards and mutter something about 'bloody kids'. Presto you have not only a recycling box again, but one already marked with your address, and for an added bonus the potential to collect more.

Could become addictive though. First your 10 nearest neighbours.. then the rest of the street, then the next street..

Before you know he has 50 recycling bins stashed in his back garden, and 10 foot bedges all around to hide his ill deeds.

What about when the bin buzz ain't enough? What then? Cats?
