Edward Norton - In my opinion the best actor alive today. His performance as a manipulative ''apparent'' schizophrenic in the film Primal fear is majestic.
Taylor Lautner - The big muscle head from the Twilight garbage who never has a shirt on. Watched him the other night in a film called Abduction and it confirmed my opinion that he is utterly rank.
So what about you....who is your Great Actor - Crap Actor......and why.

norton's a great actor great performances in fight club and italian job. even put in a solid job in the latest bourne, a fairly average film. twilight actors are too easy, all terrible in a terrible series.

Great Actor
Anthony Hopkins A powerful presence in every film I've seen of his. Great voice and demeanour. Personal favourite performances/films: Magic (78), The Remains Of The Day (93) and The Edge (97). One of very few actors where I'll watch a film just because of him. (Others include John Hurt, Brad Dourif and Buck Flower.)
Crap Actor
Vernon Wells Played Cpt Bennett in Commando (85). The most hilarious "serious" villain ever. Chainmail vest, Freddie Mercury 'tache, no muscle mass, astonishing facial expressions and noises... "Dead?"... "Tranquilizers"... "I don't need no gun!"... "I'M GONNA KILL YOU NOW!" etc. If you have 12 minutes to spare, rather than enough time to see the whole film...

(From almost slipping on the boat rail right through to his "letting of some steam" squirming death face...) (Could probably make a case for anyone involved in Commando, love that film... =D )

Great Actor: Jack Nicholson, he can do drama, comedy, greatest actor ever.
Crap: Steven Seagal, I mean... like his action movies and all, but the guy just goes through the movie with the facial expresion of a wood board, he even fights like a wood board, the only difference is that a wood board might actually look more alive than him.

Great: Marlon Brando - For me, a person who lives for every role he does, and with great result (almost) every time. I'm putting Kevin Spacey in a very close second though.
Crap: Adam Sandler - This guy is terrible. It doesn't matter that he tried doing some serious movies, because he always have to talk in a baby-voice at some point. Aaargh I'm getting frustrated just looking through his movies at IMDb.

Great: Johnny Depp. Honestly no other actor has done as many characters as him. Dean Corso, Barry, Gilbert Grape, Capt Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, Mad Hatter. There are lots of great actors who can do it all - comedy, action, romance but i believe he is one of the very few, if not the only one, who does it differently everytime. He invents his own characters. Just look at the difference between Dean Corso (The Ninth Gate) and Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Carribean). You wouldn't know it was the same actor if they had different faces, can't say the same about others. For eg:- Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson are great actors but id recognize them just by their mannerisms alone no matter what the role, its the same thing over and over again, granted they're damn good at it.
Crap: Not sure but Steven Segal has to be up there..

Great Actor - Dustin Hoffman, so many great character performances but if you have ever seen Tootsie, Rain Man, Wag the Dog (a wonderful film with him and Bobby de Niro), Kramer v Kramer, Sphere and many other you will know what I mean.
Crap Actor - Jude Law, talentless, no sense of humour and boring. The sort of pretty boy that makes a girl look for a man with a personality.

Great Actor: Billy Bob Thornton
Did rather well in films such as Sling Blade, The Man Who Wasn't There, U-Turn among many others. One of those incredibly flexible actors who adapts well.
Crap Actor: Steve Carell
He's a fortunate man given the endless "below average" comedies continue to be churned out by Hollywood. "Adam Sandler's schedule is full, lets ask Steve Carell".
I'd say if you can't act but have the contacts in the business, you'll end up as a Steve Carell or even a wannabe Steve Carell. Should acting in comedies matter? If it does, Steve Carell is as rotten as they come.

Great Actor: Matt Dillon (You should really check his breaktrough "The Outsiders" (also with Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, ...))
Crap Actor: Jackie Chan. No further comment.

ronald reagan was terrible, became even worse when he went into politics.
i would like to throw a performance oscar into a ring and watch margaret thatcher and tony blair fight over it, but in truth, they both deserve an oscar for brightening up in front of a camera..
