Blackburn Rovers

Well the deadline has passed and my Dad and I have taken the agonising decision not to re-new our Rovers Season Tickets (held since 1988) for the next upcoming season in the Championship. This was a torturous culmination of weeks of 'umming' and 'ahhing' and fevered debate, but it is felt that under the current regime of anonymous nobodies hiding in India, we could not give our hard earned £'s to Venky's after the disaster of the last two years of lies, false hopes and bullshit. Although, at £10 a ticket, I am sure we will be seeing more games then not, the likes of Barnsley and Peterborough...joy!

Now, I have to say, Venky's have made big strides in the right direction to getting me back on side, if nobody else. In their two years in charge, they sacked the entire boardroom staff, men like chief-exec John Williams (now commercial director at Man City), Tom Finn former club secretary and many others who had done a phenomenal job in maintaining Rovers as a financially well-run Premiership team for the best part of 15 years following the sad passing of the great Jack Walker, but those that stood up to Venky's or should I say the 'worm-tongues' behind Venkys the likes of Jerome Anderson and his cronies (who have bled Rovers dry!) lost their jobs.

It would appear Venky's have now decided to listen to the concerns of the fans, and/or people who know football and have Venky's interests and those of the football team, at heart, rather then their own personal bank accounts, and Venky's have rebuilt a boardroom at Ewood. Now, a lot of the are guys from the lower divisions, but they are football men, and more importantly, local men, men who are either fans of Rovers, like Paul Agnew as General Manager or local businessmen like Derek Shaw (former chairmen of Preston North End) as Managing Director and Ian Silvester as Club Secretary from Liverpool.

On the pitch, I think experienced signings like Danny Murphy, and Nuno Gomes, while the likes of Leon Best and the unknown but allegedly exciting Fabio Nunes could provide an edge in the Championship along with Rochina, Formica and Vukcevic and Rovers youngsters, the likes of Jason Lowe, Grant Hanley, Adam Henley, Josh Morris and Nick Blackman along with the likes of David Goodwillie, who may all learn their trade a lot easier in the Championship as opposed the the Premiership, but obviously it depends on who leaves (Yakubu - gone, Hoillet - out of contract, Olsson, Robinson etc), but I have a faint hope we may make the Championship play-offs next season, if Steve Kean can become more attacking in his tactics and "less 10 men behind the ball" negative, if we replace what we lose with good British players who have the fight and desire, which is clearly lacking in the likes of Nzonzi, but still not asking for Venky's to do a Man City but provide reasonable funds for a couple of £3-4 million players, we would all be happy and just to have a go at promotion and try to win (like Blackpool) which would mean more then trying to defend a 0-0 from kick-off.

Then again, if bottom at end of November, Venky's Out, Kean Out!

the thing is merc, having supported middlesbrough in the 80 s /90 s, and giving up my season ticket because i wanted the board to show some guts and sack Bryan Robson in 2000, i gave up my ticket because i was jacked off, nowadays i cant afford a season ticket or i am not as eager to shell out as i used to be, but my point is , and you probably already know this, as i have experienced great seasons in the old division 1 with promotion campaigns, if rovers do have a good season ,and it may take the first ten games to get a feel of how things will pan out, but if they do have a good season, then you being there will erase some of the pain and frustration of last season, i miss having something to shout about, good or bad, i also missed boros only cup win and campaign in europe, and also one particular time, way back before all seater stadia came in , myself and the car full that used to travel to away games, decided to pack in the travelling to away matches, as the results and the stadiums were becoming dire, the very next season , under a new manager, Colin Todd, Boro won a huge percentage of games on their travels, straight after we had given up going, just make sure ,if you still decide to quit, that you are quitting for the right reasons, as you can see from above, a lot of my/our decisions brought only feelings of irony..

well rovers could go straight down to the 1st division, but again , like i stated above, when boro dropped to the old 3 rd division, and got straight back promoted, it was a great season, you fellas are feeling sorry for yourselves too much , Leeds utd, southampton, MAN CITY , sheff utd, sheff wed, middlesbrough, notts county, burnley, blackpool, norwich, bradford city,, that is half a league table, they all been down to a league below you are uffing and puffing about, maybe you have too high an opinion of yourselves, if the football is good then everything is fine, football fans are fickle, so if the football suddenly becomes good, maybe we will see an end to posts like this, your not world beaters, the steel industry got taken over by indians, tetley tea did too, most of the superstores are owned by pakistani/indians, all that has happened to you is that you got relegated, the more i go on , the less i feel sorry for you , stop whamping , and f/king get on with it, i have a f/king good mind to come down to whatever your poxy ground is called now for the first time since 1989 and shout my team home against you, you f/king badge lickers, ( sorry alcohol kicked in )
