Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Llwybyr Flood started the match with the kick off. U21 Latvia's Verners Krieviņš played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Llwybyr Flood in the 2nd minute of play. Verners Krieviņš took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Llwybyr Flood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, U21 Wales's Maddox Cleary got control of the ball when Valts Polārists tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 8 played minutes U21 Wales got a freekick which was hit by Lleu Hawke. Llwybyr Flood might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Verners Krieviņš. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Llwybyr Flood ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of U21 Wales booed when U21 Latvia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ilmārs Altenbergs didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Llwyr Duffer in the 21st minute of play forced U21 Latvia's goalkeeper Verners Krieviņš to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Wales getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Lleu Hawke hit a great ball. Llwybyr Flood struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Verners Krieviņš didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Wales. Verners Krieviņš took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gavin Hough, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Trevelyan Hightower put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Verners Krieviņš. Tad King charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tad King the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Tad King hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Verners Krieviņš made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gavin Hough in the 34th minute of play. In the 41st minute of the match U21 Latvia got a corner. U21 Wales's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mārcis Spicins-Dūrainis ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well done corner resulted in Druvvaldis Zveja drilling the ball in to score 1-1 behind U21 Wales's goalkeeper. After 44 minutes, Lleu Hawke mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Wales and the U21 Latvia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, U21 Wales's Lleu Hawke got a free kick in the 44th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Valts Polārists to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, U21 Latvia's Imants Utināns nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Maddox Cleary made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 58th minute, Ilmārs Altenbergs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tad King kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. After 61 minutes, Valts Polārists mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 Latvia and the U21 Wales players grew even worse after the yellow card. Valts Polārists hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Maddox Cleary showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ludis Stanguts in the 63rd minute of the match. U21 Latvia were awarded a corner in the 64th minute after U21 Wales's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mārcis Spicins-Dūrainis took the corner. Mārcis Spicins-Dūrainis made a great header on U21 Latvia's corner, it was just that U21 Wales's Maddox Cleary managed to reach the ball for a save. Verners Krieviņš showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Llwybyr Flood in the 69th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Gavin Hough took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Verners Krieviņš to make any attempt to save it. In the 82nd minute, Juris Kairis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Imants Utināns in the 90th minute of play forced U21 Wales's goalkeeper Maddox Cleary to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Wales were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing U21 Latvia to leave the ground with a draw.
