Verners Krieviņš showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Llwybyr Flood, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. After a rather tough play, U21 Latvia's Harijs Ozjorskis got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 40th minute, U21 Wales's Gavin Hough dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. In the 44th minute, Indars Peterlevics made a precise shot to the right of Maddox Cleary. U21 Wales's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. 47 minutes into the match, U21 Latvia's goal looked a bit too open when Llwybyr Flood came free, but Verners Krieviņš reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Llwybyr Flood to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Wales's zone, Valts Polārists stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maddox Cleary came out of the goal and Valts Polārists tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maddox Cleary showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sulyen Clements during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
