The mood of the audience was pleasant when Mohammad Liang made the kick off which started today's match. 10 minutes into the game, U21 England's Pierre Burgess nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gerard Laycock made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Gerard Laycock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richard Butler, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Gerard Laycock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trevor Carey-Bertram, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. U21 England's Darius Goodall proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save U21 England from getting a goal against them. The U21 Singapore fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when U21 Singapore's Mohammad Liang looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. U21 Singapore's Gerard Laycock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ethan Peake in the 22nd minute of play. Mohammad Liang in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Darius Goodall, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Tan Politiek hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. U21 England's Pierre Burgess couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for U21 Singapore. Pierre Burgess took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gerard Laycock. U21 Singapore's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the U21 Singapore defense, Trevor Carey-Bertram kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerard Laycock. The U21 Singapore fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerard Laycock should have stopped the shot. Tan Choo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Darius Goodall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Darius Goodall made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tan Choo in the 36th minute. When Tan Politiek fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U21 Singapore's protests and gave Tan Politiek a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd match minute, U21 Singapore was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tan Politiek to maneuver through the defense. Gerard Laycock came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 England's Trevor Carey-Bertram. Ethan Peake hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Danish Dhanabalan kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Ethan Peake's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gerard Laycock read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. U21 Singapore's Khairul Chandran was substituted for Victor Tuan. The corner led U21 England's Pierre Burgess to fire away a dangerous shot which Gerard Laycock despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 66th play minute Syd Mann came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Gerard Laycock. 1-4. Darius Goodall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tan Choo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Mohammad Liang's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Darius Goodall was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Gerard Laycock was a little too slow when Ethan Peake got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 73rd minute. The score was now 1-5. Gerard Laycock came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 England's Richard Butler. But to his dismay, Richard Butler quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-6. 85 minutes into the match, Richard Butler dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gerard Laycock, 1-7. In the 91st match minute, U21 Singapore was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Khairul Chandran to maneuver through the defense. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paddy Madden couldn't finish the play. In the 98th minute Mark Ning shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Darius Goodall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. U21 Singapore's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ang Low in the 100th minute. Ang Low made a great header on U21 Singapore's corner, it was just that U21 England's Darius Goodall managed to reach the ball for a save.
