Karl Katz hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, Olaf Waidner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Germany fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Emil Aldulea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olaf Waidner in the 21st minute of the match. With a little luck, U21 Romania's Emil Aldulea got control of the ball when Olaf Waidner tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rocky Rädle did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Emil Aldulea 25 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlo Unsöld in the 27th minute of play forced U21 Romania's goalkeeper Emil Aldulea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28 minutes U21 Romania's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Carlo Unsöld who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Carlo Unsöld almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Romania's Emil Aldulea did a great save. In the 30th match minute, U21 Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by George Deac to maneuver through the defense. 31 minutes into the match, U21 Germany's Carlo Unsöld broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Costin Lazãr's late challenge caught a U21 Germany's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Costin Lazãr helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, U21 Romania's Costin Lazãr got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Emil Aldulea made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Rocky Rädle sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ion Oblemenco made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, U21 Germany's goalkeeper Lê Château had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Costin Lazãr. Lê Château took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ion Oblemenco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 54 played minutes U21 Romania got a freekick which was hit by Constantin Cârstea. In the 59th minute, Tino Muring made a precise shot to the right of Emil Aldulea. U21 Romania's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. U21 Romania made a substitution. Cristian Mugur replaced Alex Ander. Emil Aldulea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olaf Waidner in the 65th minute of play. Gheorghe Glodeanu kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. U21 Romania's Cristinel Vârlan was substituted for Ilie Bădoi. U21 Romania's Ion Timofte was substituted for Ion Oblemenco. After a rather tough play, U21 Romania's Gheorghe Glodeanu got a free kick in the 68th minute. Emil Aldulea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olaf Waidner in the 71st minute of the match. U21 Germany were awarded a corner in the 72th minute after U21 Romania's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Carlo Unsöld took the corner. After taking down the ball on U21 Germany's corner Carlo Unsöld fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Emil Aldulea quite easily take care of the ball. Carlo Unsöld hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Emil Aldulea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tino Muring, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 85th match minute, U21 Germany was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erich Beer to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costin Lazãr in the 88th minute of play forced U21 Germany's goalkeeper Lê Château to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
