A collision led to U21 Malta getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. George Sabatino hit a great ball. John Mary Casa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silviano Laguillo's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Xavian Carpio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neil Salinos in the 36th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, U21 Malta's goal looked a bit too open when Silviano Laguillo came free, but John Mary Casa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 39 played minutes U21 Malta got a freekick which was hit by Franco Fiorini Lowell. John Mary Casa was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Silviano Laguillo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Silviano Laguillo really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

U21 Malta's Tyron Busietta was substituted for John Mary Marmara. The wind increased when Tyron Busietta made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in U21 Malta's zone, Silviano Laguillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. John Mary Casa came out of the goal and Silviano Laguillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlo Cilia's late challenge caught a U21 Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlo Cilia helped the player get up and apologised. In the 54th minute, Carlo Cilia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55thth minute of the game Silviano Laguillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Malta's John Mary Casa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. U21 Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Omar Osorio in the 56th minute. Denis Olmedo kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silviano Laguillo in the 67th minute of play forced U21 Malta's goalkeeper John Mary Casa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to U21 Venezuela getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Marcelo Balanta hit a great ball. U21 Venezuela's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
