After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Dimitri Payet managed to get in a good position for a shot. U21 Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Dimitri Payet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexander Pérez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. U21 Panama's Alexander Pérez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dimitri Payet in the 10th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Alberto Jaen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Panama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Heraclides Gutierrez made in the 25th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Cheito Nuñez immediately put the ball in play. Alexander Pérez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dimitri Payet in the 26th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, U21 Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Dimitri Payet came free, but Alexander Pérez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alexander Pérez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dimitri Payet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 34 minutes into the match, U21 Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Nico Santander came free, but Alexander Pérez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Panama's Heraclides Palma was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Frank Morris in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Nico Santander received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Alexander Pérez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alberto Jaen made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitri Payet in the 54th minute of play forced U21 Panama's goalkeeper Alexander Pérez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Peru's Nico Santander came free and shot a quick shot against goal 59 minutes in the game, fortunately Alexander Pérez had problems saving as it came toward the left post. 63 minutes into the match, U21 Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Javier Garcia came free, but Frank Morris reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 64 minutes into the game, Nico Santander recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Alexander Pérez. Nico Santander showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. U21 Peru made a substitution. Trond Bom replaced Paul Laime. U21 Panama made a substitution. Miguel Fernández replaced Javier Garcia. With his leg Alexander Pérez managed to avoid a goal in the 69thth minute, when U21 Peru's Valerio Verdeces fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Olayo Gallarde kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. U21 Panama's Felipe Gomez was substituted for Alberto Jaen. A collision led to U21 Peru getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Olayo Gallarde hit a great ball. U21 Panama's Alexander Pérez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save U21 Panama from getting a goal against them. U21 Panama were awarded a corner in the 82th minute after U21 Peru's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Heraclides Gutierrez took the corner. Miguel Fernández was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. U21 Peru's Alberto Fujimori was substituted for Dimitri Payet. Heraclides Gutierrez kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, U21 Panama's Agustin Batista got a free kick in the 85th minute. After having played for 86 minutes, Olayo Gallarde managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olayo Gallarde was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 87th minute, Valerio Verdeces ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexander Pérez was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 89th match minute, U21 Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Fernández to maneuver through the defense. Alexander Pérez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Valerio Verdeces in the 90th minute. In the 92nd minute Pedro Morales shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Morris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Felipe Gomez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Frank Morris. U21 Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felipe Gomez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
