With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hasta Alfonso in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alexander Pérez saved U21 Panama from getting behind. In the 21st minute, Yerko Rey ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexander Pérez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 26 played minutes U21 Panama got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Villalobos. Alexander Pérez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hasta Alfonso in the 30th minute of the match. After 34 played minutes U21 Panama got a freekick which was hit by Javier Garcia. After a rather tough play, U21 Panama's Cheito Nuñez got a free kick in the 38th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alberto Jaen to make the kick off. David Llanos hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. U21 Chile's Alexander Aravena was substituted for Hasta Alfonso. The supporters of U21 Panama booed when U21 Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Llanos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulino Oyarzún kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alexander Pérez. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo Tupper in the 82nd minute of play forced U21 Panama's goalkeeper Alexander Pérez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 84 minutes into the match, U21 Panama's goalkeeper Alexander Pérez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulino Oyarzún. 86 minutes into the match, Pedro Morales notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of U21 Chile's Peyo Kaadekilde. Peyo Kaadekilde was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alexander Pérez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raimundo Tupper in the 89th minute of play. Peyo Kaadekilde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Gomez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexander Pérez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Tupper in the 92nd minute of the match. Raimundo Tupper received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Alexander Pérez came out and tried to block the shot, but Raimundo Tupper slotted it home off the left post making it 1-6 in the 92nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexander Aravena got free with Alexander Pérez in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
