Jökull Barang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mahadi Barus having to interfere. After 18 minutes of play, U21 Indonesia's Desta Sujarwadi made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mahadi Barus was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nurcholish Noya took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mahadi Barus. Mahadi Barus dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Ronny Sjahrir made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Leonard Sinuraya sent off a good shot on target. Mahadi Barus stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jökull Barang's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. U21 Indonesia's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cakra Prastowo in the 30th minute. The corner led U21 Indonesia's Cakra Prastowo to fire away a dangerous shot which Mahadi Barus despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jökull Barang to strike the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jökull Barang in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mahadi Barus prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 53rd minute of the match Cakra Prastowo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mahadi Barus skillfully saved the ball. 54 minutes into the match, U21 Indonesia's goal looked a bit too open when Leonard Sinuraya came free, but Ronny Sjahrir reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Desta Sujarwadi hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by C.J. Sharp in the 56th minute of play forced U21 Indonesia's goalkeeper Ronny Sjahrir to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Weldy Sudaryanto in the 58th minute of play forced U21 Malaysia's goalkeeper Mahadi Barus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Jökull Barang took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Mahadi Barus to make any attempt to save it. 70 minutes into the game, Jökull Barang recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Mahadi Barus. Jökull Barang showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. In the 79th minute, U21 Indonesia's Weldy Sudaryanto ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Mahadi Barus. Mahadi Barus yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. Mahadi Barus made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Weldy Sudaryanto sent off a good shot on target. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jökull Barang couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded U21 Indonesia left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than U21 Malaysia.
