The audience thought a goal was coming when Isac Björklund got free with Roger Pillot in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 19th minute of the match, Egil Alrot tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Roger Pillot saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When U21 Sweden's Otto Lindsten in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Roger Pillot yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. Roger Pillot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otto Lindsten in the 44th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

U21 France's Roger Pillot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulf Andberg in the 54th minute of play. 54 minutes into the match, Ulf Andberg notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of U21 France's Roger Pillot. Roger Pillot was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Diamantis Diamant took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roger Pillot. Roger Pillot dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-1.
