For the first time we interview a manager from another continent who doesn´t speak Spanish, so the interview will be in English and translated to Spanish. We´re glad to introduce Matt Freeman whose username is “chucky06”, manager of “The Obscurials”, team of the A-League of Australia and NC of the Australian National Team.
Valerio: Cuéntanos un poco de ti. ¿Quién es chucky06? ¿tienes 33 años o no? ¿En la vida real, hincha de (equipo de fútbol real)? ¿Profesión? ¿Cuánto tiempo diario le dedicas a MZ?
Tell us a little about yourself. Who is chucky06? Are you 33 years old or not? In real life, you root for (real soccer team)? Profession? How much daily time do you dedicate to MZ?
Matt: Tengo 33 años, en la vida real trabajo en ventas en el sector de medios. Soy un apasionado seguidor del Manchester United desde niño. Probablemente estoy en Managerzone demasiado tiempo, alrededor de 2 horas diarias. Mis actividades varían pero he llegado a ponerme alarmas en horas locas para despertarme y pujar por jugadores.
I am 33, I work in media sales in the real world. I’m a passionate Manchester United fan and have been since I was a young boy. I probably am on Managerzone far too much, maybe 2 hours a day. My activity varies but I have been known to set alarms at crazy hours to wake-up to bid on players.
Valerio: Y sobre tu equipo “The Obscurials”, ¿Por qué el nombre?, ¿Cómo comenzó todo? ¿Cuál fue tu máximo logro a nivel de clubes?
And about your team “The Obscurials”, why the name? How did it all start? What was your greatest achievement at club level?
Matt: El nombre “The Obscurials” es un término de Harry Potter que hace referencia a un niño que al tratar de reprimir su talento en magia puede ser muy peligroso. Soy un gran fanático de todo el mundo Harry Potter.
Comencé jugando Managerzone en el auge del juego y cuando recién había llegado a Australia. Debió ser allá por el 2003, un buen tiempo atrás. Dejé el juego, regresé unas cuantas veces y últimamente debo haber estado 6 años jugando con este equipo.
Los mayores logros a nivel de clubes serían haber logrado 3 copas oficiales mundiales. Gané la Defenders Sub23 dos veces y también la Season Break Cup Sub23. Que yo sepa, ningún otro manager australiano ha podido ganar una copa oficial mundial.
The name “The Obscurials” is a Harry Potter term referencing a child who is trying to suppress their magic which can be very dangerous. I’m a huge fan of anything Harry Potter and that world.
I starting playing Managerzone when the game was booming and just arrived in Australia. It would have been 2003 maybe, a long time ago anyhow. I’ve left the game and come back a few times and most recently been playing for about 6 years now with this team.
Greatest achievements at club level would be winning 3 worldwide official cups. I have won the U23 Defenders Cup twice ans won the U23 Season Break Cup. No other Australain manager has won an worldwide official cup at all to my knowledge.

How many active Australian teams are there? We know "Harry Cool" who has been dominating the A-League for 5 seasons.
Matt: Tristemente una gran cantidad de managers australianos dejaron el juego. La comunidad es pequeña según recuerdo y no tan unida, lo cual también es desafortunado. Debe haber unos 30 usuarios activos.
Harry Cool tiene un buen equipo y básicamente tuvo campo libre para obtener el título. Conmigo jugando solo ligas juveniles y otros managers top abandonando el juego, actualmente es el único equipo senior australiano de calidad. Sin desmerecerlo lo hecho, realmente lo hizo bien en la categoría mayor.
Sadly a lot of quality Australian Managers have left the game. The community is as small as I can remember and not that close which also is unfortunate. There would only be around 30 active users.
Harry Cool has a good team and has basically had a free run at the title. With myself only playing youth leagues and other top managers leaving the game he’s currently the only Aussie senior team with real quality. Not taking anything away from him though, he’s done really well at senior level.
Valerio: “The Obscurials” descendió esta temporada, luego de 5 temporadas en la máxima división de Australia. Vimos que alguna vez fue campeón de la A-League. ¿Lo fue con un equipo Sub23?
“The Obscurials” was relegated this season, after 5 seasons playing in the Australian top league. We saw that it was once an A-League champion. Was it with a U23 team?
Matt: Si, desafortunadamente mi equipo está retornando a la division 1, pero tener un equipo senior no es mi objetivo. Principalmente he tenido un equipo Sub21 toda la temporada con unos cuantos jugadores Sub22 y Sub23 y todos fueron enviados al campo de entrenamiento durante la temporada. Hace varias temporadas que no he tenido un verdadero equipo senior. Encuentro que es muy costoso mantener un equipo senior competitivo y tratar de tener un equipo SubXX exitoso, especialmente de un país pequeño con un mercado de jugadores limitado.
Yeh, my team is unfortunately going back down to division one but having a competitive senior team isn’t my focus. I mainly had an U21 team all season with a few U22 and U23 players and they all were sent to full training camps throughout the season. I haven’t had a serious senior team for many seasons now. I’ve just found it far too expensive to maintain a competitive senior team and try to have successful Uxx teams, especially from a small country, with a limited player market.

You are among the top managers U23. The only non-Chinese team in the World Top Series is yours. What do you need to be the best? What are the Chinese doing to have so many top U23 teams?
Matt: Si, es un logro del cual estoy orgulloso. Es realmente duro y un problema algo injusto que los países pequeños deben afrontar. Paises grandes como China tienen un enorme mercado de transferencias, pueden hacer dinero fácilmente a través de trasnferencias de jugadores y pueden ser mucho más selectivos sobre los jugadores extranjeros en los cuales invierten. Uno puede contar con una limitada cantidad de extranjeros y éstos son la base para tener un equipo Sub23 fuerte. Ésta es otra razón por la cual uno no puede tener un equipo senior de calidad al mismo tiempo, siendo de un país pequeño a no ser que sea dueño de la mayoría de los seleccionados australianos.
Terminé 5to en la Top League Sub23. Es muy competitiva y con el nivel de los equipos muy parejo depende mucho de buenas tácticas y una buena parte de suerte.
Yeh it’s an achievement I’m proud of. It’s really hard and somewhat an unfair problem small countries face. Larger countries like China have a huge transfer market, are able to make money through transfers easily and can be a lot more selective of what foreign players they invest in. You can only have so many foreign players so having a strong U23 team relies on most of the team being foreign. It’s also another reason you can’t really have a quality Senior team at the same time from small countries unless I was to own most of the senior Austrlaian team.
I’ve finished 5th in the U23 Top League. It’s very competitive and teams at that level are so close a lot of the time it relies on good tactics and a good deal of luck.
Valerio: Vemos que juegas muchos torneos juveniles, ¿Cuál es la táctica más efectiva que has podido encontrar con tu equipo U23 y cual con las Sub21 y Sub 18? ¿Por qué no juegas en la categoría Senior?
We see that you play many youth tournaments. What is the most effective tactic you have been able to find with your U23 team and which with the U21 and U18 tems? Why don't you play in the Senior category?
Matt: Solo juego SubXX como mencioné, ya que mantener una plantilla es muy caro y no podría adquirir jugadores de la calidad necesaria, ya que todos mis cupos de extranjeros están ocupados en jugadores Sub23. Un equipo senior con puros jugadores australianos sería mediocre.
Principalmente uso la misma táctica para todos los partidos Sub18. Solo he usado al equipo Sub18 como un campo de entrenamiento para formar futuros potenciales jugadores Sub23. No entreno jugadores para que sean competitivos en la categoría Sub18, pero sí para que lleguen bien a la Sub23. Mi equipo Sub21 principalmente mantiene la misma táctica, alternando entre una con extremos y otra con pases cortos. Sin embargo, mi equipo Sub23 usa diferentes tácticas dependiendo del rival y del torneo. No existe una táctica que sirva para todo y uno debe tener múltiples tácticas a disposición.
I only play Uxx as mentioned above as it’s too expensive on wages and I wouldn’t be able to buy the quality needed with my foreign spots all allocated to my U23 team. An all Australian senior team will only ever be mediocre.
I use mainly the same tactic always for U18. I’ve only even used U18 as a training ground to raise potential future U23 players. I don’t train players to be competitive at U18 level but to be good at U23 level. My U21 team will mainly play the same tactic just alternate between a wing tactic and a short passing tactic. My U23 side though will play multiple different tactics depending on the opponent and competition. There’s is no one tactic works for all and you need to have multiple tactics at your disposal.
Valerio: ¿Cuáles son tus jugadores clave que participan en estas tácticas? (Delanteros, extremos, enganche, defensores)
Who are your key players involved in these tactics? (Forwards, Wingers, Midfielders, Defenders)
Matt: Creo que todo buen equipo SubXX necesita unos cuantos jugadores clave. Un portero sólido, un buen delantero cabezón y un gran extremo. Estos son los jugadores esenciales pero hay mucho más que solo ellos.
I think every good Uxx team needs a few key players. A solid goalkeeper, a good wing play striker and a great winger. They are the essentials but there’s a lot more to it than that.
Valerio: ¿Cuantos jugadores canteranos son titulares en tu equipo Sub 23?
How many homegrown players are starters on your U23 team?
Matt: Tengo 6 jugadores canteranos en mi equipo, pero solo 4 son titulares. Ya que tienes restricciones sobre la cantidad de jugadores foráneos que pueden ser parte de tu equipo, es necesario contar con unos cuantos jugadores canteranos, alrededor de los cuales construir tu equipo. Si tienes la suerte de contar con una camada de juveniles de calidad y de la misma edad, esa es una buena base para armar un buen equipo.
I have 6 homegrown players in my squad but only 4 currently are starters. I find it really important to have at least a few as you have restrictions to how many overseas players you can have so you need homegrown in your squad and you can build around them. If you get really lucky and have a batch of youth that are quality of the same age that’s a great base to make a team around.
Valerio: ¿Cuántos juveniles recomiendas que deberían pedirse? ¿Sirve el intercambio para tí?
How many youth players do you recommend that should be ordered? Does the youth exchange work for you?
Matt: Yo creo que cada manager de un pais pequeño, debería contar con la mayor cantidad de juveniles posible. Es un juego de números y mientras más juveniles tengas, más posibilidades tendrás de obtener una superestrella o dos.
El intercambio de juveniles ha eliminado la imprevisibilidad de la formación de juveniles. Realmente polariza el mercado de transferencias para jugadores jóvenes. Los managers ya casi no se arriesgan a comprar jugadores con tanta información disponible. Por ello los jugadores tienden a valer mucho o nada, ya no existe un nivel medio. Encuentro que al menos la mitad de mis juveniles, cuando cumplen 19, los despido ya que nadie los compraría.
My belief is every manager from a small country should have as many youth as possible. It’s a numbers game and the more you have to more chance you have of unlocking a potential superstar or two.
Youth exchange has taken the unpredictability out of training youths. It’s really polarises the transfer market for young players. Managers hardly take the risk on players anymore with so much information available that players tend to be worth a lot or nothing, there’s not Middle range anymore. I find that at least half of my youth when they turn 19 I am discarding and nobody would buy them.
Valerio: ¿Para la formación de juveniles cuentas con entrenadores de qué clase?, ¿cuántos y por qué?
For youth training, do you have coaches of what kind (Class)? How many and why?
Matt: Tengo entrenadores para las habilidades más importantes que requieren los juveniles. Velocidad, resistencia, remates, entradas y atajando. Creo que en este momento tengo también entrenadores en las habilidades de pases largos y control de balón.
Todos mis entrenadores entrenan habilidades con 7 u 8 balones. De manera regular visito el mercado de entrenadores y trato de reemplazar un entrenador por uno más barato. Es muy común que los managers malgasten dinero en entrenadores. Cada vez que negocias con un entrenador deberías tratar de ahorrar dinero y renegociar un contrato más barato. En algunas ocasiones los entrenadores rechazan tu oferta, pero si elijes la opción “renegociación automática” esto nada más mantiene las misma condiciones actuales y no pierdes entrenadores tratando de renegociar salarios más baratos.
I have coaches for all major skills I training youth in. Speed, Stamina, shooting, tackling and keeping. I think at the moment I have aerial passing and a ball control coach too.
All my coaches are 7 or 8 ball coaches at youth level. I regularly look at the coach market and try to replace my current coach with a cheaper one. Coaches is a common place where managers spend too much money. Everytime you negotiate a coach contract you should be trying to save money and negotiate a cheaper contract. Coaches eventually bottom out and reject your offer but if you select “automatically negotiate” it just resigns them to the same deal. You can’t lose trying to negotiate cheaper salaries.
Valerio: El reporte de scouteo de un jugador H3 o H4, indica las habilidades que deben priorizarse en el entrenamiento. ¿Las sigues a rajatabla? ¿Qué tipo de habilidades prefieres que te salgan en Máximo Potencial? ¿Qué habilidades en Mínimo Potencial debería tener un jugador H3 o H4 para que los descartes?
The scouting report of an H3 (Three star in Highest Potential) or H4 (Four star in Highest Potential) player indicates the skills that should be prioritized in training. Do you follow them strictly? What kind of skills do you prefer to have in Highest Potential? What skills in Lowest Potential should an H3 or H4 player have to be discarded?
Matt: Hay varias maneras de usar la información del reporte. Yo la uso más al revés y veo primero al potencial más bajo primero. Defensores y arqueros no pueden tener Inteligencia como parte de sus habilidades con menor potencial. Los delanteros no pueden tener Cabezazos y los mediocampistas no pueden tener Entradas o Inteligencia. Cuando realizo un intercambio, estos jugadores son directamente rechazados.
Entreno a mis juveniles a más largo plazo para lograr tener buenos jugadores Sub23, así que muchas veces no entreno sus habilidades de más alto potencial en un jugador H4, ya que sé que alcanzará a tener 9 o 10 balones. Un ejemplo vendría a ser un jugador H4 con habilidades Entradas y Velocidad, al cual entreno primero en Resistencia, porque si no alcanza los 8 balones, entonces las habilidades H4 serán irrelevantes y nunca será un jugador suficientemente bueno para mí.
También evito jugadores H3 L1 porque una habilidad crítica con mayor frecuencia maxea temprano y hace inservible al jugador. Jugadores H2 van directamente a la basura.
There’s many different ways this information can be used. I more use it the opposite way and look at the LP first. Defenders and keepers can’t have Player Intelligence as an LP skill, strikers can’t have heading and midfielders can’t have tackling or player Intelligence as an LP skill. When exchanging these are straight rejects for me.
I train my youth more long term and how I can make them great U23 players so a lot of the time I won’t training their 4HP skill first as I know they will reach 9/10. An example is is a player has 4HP tackling and Speed I will train them in stamina because if they max before 8 then the 4HP Speed and Tackling is irrelevant and they will never be good enough.
I also avoid all 3HP 1LP players. A critical skill more often than not will always max early making the player useless. All 2HP are thrown straight into the trash too.
Valerio: ¿Cuál es el éxito para mejorar tu economía? ¿Vender jugadores formados o comprados barato? ¿Cuál fue tu mejor jugador canterano, recuerdas sus habilidades? ¿Y la mejor inversión, cuanto te costó y cuanto llegó a valer?
What is the success to improve your economy? Sell well trained players or sell players that you bought cheap? Who was your best youth player, do you remember his skills? And the best player investment, how much did it cost you and how much was it worth?
Matt: Creo que se necesita una combinación de las dos. Siendo de un país relativamente pequeño en términos de Managerzone, es realmente difícil comprar muchos jugadores y venderlos por mayor dinero. Al tener un cupo limitado de extranjeros debes escoger entre tener un equipo competitivo o hacer dinero en el mercado. En un país pequeño no puedes hacer ambas cosas.
Mi mejor jugador juvenil, del cual no recuerdo su nombre, llegó a venderse en alrededor de AUD 8 millones (BOB 48 millones). Esto fue hace varios años atrás por lo que en el marcado actual estaría más cerca de los AUD 10 millones (BOB 60 millones).
La mejor inversión fue en un jugador que compré por un valor cercano al millón (BOB 6 millones) y lo vendí en seis millones (BOB 36 millones) hace unas temporadas. Desafortunadamente esto ya no sucede actualmente y jugando solo en ligas SubXX cada jugador parece depreciarse a partir de los 20-21 años. A los 23 años al final de la temporada, cuando vendo jugadores, llego a perder entre un 20% y 50% en cada jugador. Alguno que otro se venderá en un poco más de lo que pagué por ellos cuando tenían 20-21, pero son casos raros.
I think you need a mixture of both. Being from a relatively small country in Managerzone terms it´s really hard to buy a lot of players and sell them for more money. You have a limited amount of foreign spots and you nearly have to choose having a competitive team or making money in the transfer market. For a small country you can’t really do both.
My best youth player, I can’t remember his name now but I ended up selling for around 8million AUD. At least a few years ago too so in today’s market would be much closer to 10million AUD.
Best player investment was a player I bought for close to one million and sold for six million a few seasons later. Unfortunately these moments don’t really come about now only playing Uxx leagues as every player I have seem to depreciate from the age of 20-21. At age 23 at the end of season when selling players I tend to lose between 20-50% on each player. Some I will make money on or sell for what I paid at 20 or 21 but it’s rare.

Do you buy players to play cups that allow you to win money/tokens?
Matt: No, solo tengo una estrategia a la vez, pero cuando mis jugadores Sub23 sean todos de 23 años, jugaré muchas ligas amistosas que tengan premios. Esto me deja ver como estpy parado frente a los otros mejores equipos Sub23 y generalmente también me hace ganar tokens.
No, I only have one strategy at a time but when my U23 are all 23 I will play a lot of Friendly Leagues that have prize pools. It let’s me see how I compare against the other best U23 teams and it does allow me to make some tokens usually too.
Valerio: ¿Cuántos tokens o dinero inviertes aproximadamente al mes?
How many tokens or money do you invest approximately per month?
Matt: Probablemente compro 100 tokens cada tres meses más o menos. En los eventos donde hay recompensas en fichas compro más tokens ya que estas fichas ayudan mucho en la formación de un equipo SubXX
I probably buy 100 tokens every 3 months give or take. During an event with chips are rewards I will buy more tokens though as these are real game changers building an Uxx team.
Valerio: ¿Cuán importante es tener un goleador con habilidad en cabeza? ¿Es necesario, en tu caso que juegas con dos delanteros, que uno tenga 10 en remate y el otro 10 en cabeza? E Inteligencia que es una habilidad que demora en desarrollar ¿cuán importante es?
How important is it to have a top striker with heading skill? Is it necessary, in your case that you play with two strikers, that one has 10 balls in shooting and the other player has 10 balls in heading? And Intelligence, which is a skill that takes time to develop, how important is it?
Matt: Es muy importante contar con un goleador con las habilidades de Cabeza y Remate. Depende de la táctica y juego con uno mucho cuando todo mi equipo tiene 23 años. El extremo delantero debe tener lo máximo en la habilidad pases largos, ya que es quien alimenta al goleador cabezón.
La inteligencia en el jugador es importante pero muy cara. En una liga SubXX puedes salir adelante con algo de ella desarrollada, pero trato que mis jugadores a sus 23 años tengan al menos 7 balones. Sin embargo, para jugadores senior, Inteligencia es súper importante.
Very important to have a striker with high heading and shooting. Depends on the formation and I play a lot when my team are all of 23 age. The supports striker needs high passing as he typically feeds the main striker.
Players Intelligence is great but very expensive. At an Uxx league you can get away with it to some degree but I try to have my 23 year old to have at least 7. Player Intelligence is super important for all senior players though
Valerio: ¿Por qué no usas una táctica con doble extremo que es tan efectiva y usada en tantos equipos alrededor del mundo?
Why don´t you use not a tactic with double winger which is so effective and used by so many teams around the world?
Matt: Lo hago, pero en este momento todo mi equipo es Sub21 y estoy construyendo uno Sub23. Cuando todos tengan 23 años usaré alrededor de 10 tácticas durante la temporada y seguro que una o dos de ellas serán con doble extremo. Generalmente crea menores oportunidades de gol pero tiene un porcentaje mayor de conversión de gol.
I do but at the moment all my team are U21 and I’m building an U23 team. When they are all 23 I will use around 10 tactics throughout the season and double wings will be one or two for sure. Generally is creates less scoring opportunities but had a higher conversion percentage.
Valerio: Vemos que tienes siempre a dos delanteros alimentados por un extremo y varía muy poco el estilo entre un partido y el otro. ¿Si jugaras con 5 defensores ayudaría?
We see that you always have two strikers fed by one winger and the tactic style varies very little from one game to the next. Would it help if you played with 5 defenders?
Matt: Como dije antes, mi equipo Sub21 ha estado en piloto automático casi toda la temporada. Me meteré de lleno en las tácticas en la subsiguiente temporada, cuando tengan 23 años y comience el negocio. El usar 5 defensores ayuda dependiendo de la táctica que use el oponente. Pero también te deja expuesto en el medio del campo ante tácticas con pases cortos, asi que necesitas estar seguro cómo juega tu rival o jugar con línea de 4 que es más seguro.
Like I said above, my team have been on U21 auto pilot for most of the season. I will only really get heavily into tactics in another season when they turn 23 and the business starts. Back 5 defenders helps depending on the tactics your opponent plays. It also leaves you exposed in the middle of the field for short passing tactics against so you need to be sure what your opponent is playing or a back 4 tactic is safer.

How do you manage to have so many players from other countries? They must cost a fortune. Piers Giles from England, Hakan Kutlu from Turkey, Eliodor Radu from Romania, Bala Veloz from Colombia, Hong Xi Bin from China. Wow! Do you keep in touch with the NCs or NCAs of these countries?
Matt: Cuestan una fortuna. ¡Seguro! En Australia no hay una base de jugadores lo suficientemente grande como para no comprar jugadores extranjeros. Para ser un equipo top en un país pequeño, debes invertir mucho dinero en foráneos.
De vez en cuando hablo con algunos de los NCs y asistentes, pero principalmente me lo quedo para mí y para el foro.
They do cost a fortune that’s for sure! There isn’t a big enough player base in only Australia to not buy a lot of foreign players. To be a top team in a small country you need to invest heavily overseas.
Every now and then I talk to a few but I mainly keep to myself and the forum.
Valerio: En algún lado del foro mencionaron que en ligas juveniles es mejor atacar con tres delanteros ¿Estás de acuerdo? (Podrían ser un delantero de punta y dos acompañantes retrasados o dos centro delanteros alimentados por un extremo).
Somewhere in the forum they mentioned that in youth leagues it is better to attack with three forwards, do you agree? (It could be one striker and two escorts or two strikers fed by a winger)
Matt: Creo que en ligas menores Sub18 y Sub21 encuentro que el ataque es primordial y te permite ganar partidos. Crear chances es la prioridad. A ese nivel los equipos son tan parejos que siempre prefiero estar atacando que defendiendo. Lo mismo que cuando invierto en jugadores, gasto más dinero en jugadores ofensivos que defensivos.
I think in younger leagues U18 and 21 I find that attack is paramount and wins you matches. Creating chances should be the priority. At that level a lot of teams are so evenly matched so I’d always rather be attacking than defensive. Same with when I invest in players. I’ll always spend more money on the attackers than defenders.

Switching a bit to topics about the national team. Why don't you have NC assistants for Australia National Team?
Matt: Los tuve la campaña pasada, pero no engranamos mucho y para la campaña con la Sub21 sentí que no los necesitaba.
Sin embargo, siempre me gusta tener ayuda de alguien con el equipo senior y mostrar a alguien diferente, la alineación del equipo nacional, siempre es bueno. Creo que lo volveré a hacer y tendré asistentes pronto.
I had them last campaign but we didn’t actually engage a lot and for the U21 campaign I felt I didn’t really need them.
I always like someone new helping with seniors though and exposing someone different to the national set-up is always good. I think I will do this again and have some assistants soon.
Valerio: Hemos visto que con la selección nacional sí juegas con 5 defensores y también probaste usar doble extremo. ¿Por qué no pruebas usar otra táctica como la de tu equipo?
We have seen that with the national team you do play with 5 defenders and you also tried using a tactic with double winger. Why don´t you try using another tactic like in your team?
Matt: Hice unos cuantos experimentos con la selección nacional. Estuvo difícil esta temporada ya que nuestro equipo nacional Sub21 no era de tan buena calidad como el mío.
La selección mayor usará muchas más tácticas al tener una mayor profundidad en nuestro equipo que nos permitirá el uso de doble extremo y más variedad.
I did a bit of experimenting with the national team. It was hard this season as our national U21 team was actually not as good quality as my own U21 team.
The seniors will use a lot more tactics as we have greater depth in our squad which will allow double wing tactics and a lot more variety.
Valerio: Al igual que tu, el “BONDI ICEBERGS CLUB” juega ligas juveniles y veo que tiene varios jugadores que salieron de su cantera y que son seleccionados nacionales. ¿Es troyh65 (no sé su nombre) un rival tuyo por ser el mejor australiano en categorías juveniles?
Like you, the "BONDI ICEBERGS CLUB" plays youth leagues and I see that it has several players who came out of their youth academy and are national teams. Is troyh65 (I don't know his name) a rival of yours for being the best Australian in youth categories?
Matt: No lo consideraría un rival para nada, pero quisiera que más australianos jugasen ligas SubXX de manera competitiva. Parece ser que Troy siempre desarrolla una gran cantidad de buenos juveniles y mientras más personas en la comunidad de uno hagan esto, mayor beneficio para todos.
I wouldn’t consider him a rival at all but I would love more Aussies to play Uxx leagues competitively. Troy seems to always develop a lot of good youth players and the more people you can have in your community that do that the greater benefit to everyone.
Valerio: ¿Nos podrías recomendar a qué managers seguir, que consideres sean los mejores dentro del juego?, todo para poder aprender o mejorar.
Could you recommend us which managers to follow, that you consider to be the best in the game? All in order to learn or improve.
Matt: Como persona darkline es genial y me ha ayudado a lo largo de los años hablando sobre los roles de los asistentes, del juego, su experiencia y conocimientos. Actualmente es el usuario que más ha posteado en el foro con más de 51000 posteos.
En ligas Sub21 seguir al usuario sueco aik1892, es muy bueno. Recién ganó la liga mundial Sub21 de nuevo y tiene jugadores que generalmente están visibles. El usuario argentino josechilepulgar03 está siempre entre los top de las competiciones Sub23. El usuario polaco pawel-w4 también lo hace muy bien.
Hay muchos otros usuarios con equipos SubXX y creo que se los encuentra viendo regularmente las ligas top, las transferencias suyas de jugadores talentosos SubXX y las actuaciones de sus equipos en copas.
No he seguido desde hace una temporada las ligas senior. Dejé de jugarlas competitivamente lo que me impidió seguirlas de cerca.

In U21 leagues a Swedish user aik1891 is great to follow. He just won the U21 World League again and has his players generally visible. It allows you to see what is needed to be at the top of this competition.
U23 is where I’m most familiar with and there’s many users who I follow and look at their tactics and players in and our throughout a season. An Argentinan user josechilepulgar03 is always around the top of the U23 competitions, A Polish user pawel-w4 who does very well too. There’s plenty of other users and I think you need to regularly be looking at the top leagues, the transfer to look at talent of that age and cup performances.
Senior leagues I haven’t followed for some season now. I stopped playing them competitively which really stopped me needing to follow them close
Valerio: Qatar 2022 ya está por comenzar. Vimos a Australia clasificar ante Perú. ¿Cuáles son las expectativas en tu país sobre la participación de tu selección en el mundial?
Qatar 2022 is about to start. We saw Australia qualify against Peru. What are the expectations in your country regarding the participation of your national team in the World Cup?
Matt: Creo que será extremadamente difícil para nosotros superar la fase de grupos. Me encantaría que acabemos entre los dos mejores del grupo, pero no tengo tantas esperanzas.
I think it will be extremely hard for us to get out of the group stage. I’d love us to finish top two in our Group but I don’t have high hopes of that.

Matt: Si, soy un gran fanático de Harry Potter y ese mundo. He cambiado los nombres de muchos de mis jugadores por los nombres de las series (de Harry Potter) y habría cambiado muchos más, pero no son permitidos.
Yeh I’m a big fan of Harry Potter and that world. I’ve changed plenty of my player to names to names in the series and I would have changed many more but they aren’t allowed.
