The audience was convinced that Humberto Urane's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michael Carmichael was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Humberto Urane put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Michael Carmichael. 21 minutes into the game, Panama's Humberto Urane nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Michael Carmichael made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Humberto Urane sped through Trinidad & Tobago's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Michael Carmichael. In the 28th minute, Andre Walker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Trinidad & Tobago fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. In the 30th minute Demetrius Playo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michael Carmichael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Keith Adams's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulpiano Torrijos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. Toto Palma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Michael Carmichael tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Michael Carmichael stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Humberto Urane's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Humberto Urane in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michael Carmichael saved Trinidad & Tobago from getting behind. In the 42ndth minute of the game Humberto Urane who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Trinidad & Tobago's Michael Carmichael was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Michael Carmichael showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Humberto Urane in the 45th minute of the match. After 46 minutes Trinidad & Tobago's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hermes Gil who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Juan Caballero got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Michael Carmichael quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Humberto Urane stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Humberto Urane put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Michael Carmichael. 70 minutes into the game, Demetrius Playo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Trinidad & Tobago the free kick. After 70 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Demetrius Playo. Trinidad & Tobago's Wahid Ramkisson was substituted for David Castagne. After a rather tough play, Panama's Demetrius Playo got a free kick in the 72nd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Trinidad & Tobago's goal looked a bit too open when Sergio Vergara came free, but Michael Carmichael reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sergio Vergara got free with Michael Carmichael in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 84 minutes into the game, Manny Vidale was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Trinidad & Tobago's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Panama the free kick. After 84 played minutes Trinidad & Tobago got a freekick which was hit by Manny Vidale. The Panama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-7. In the 88th minute, Stern Atwell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 91st play minutes Sergio Vergara shot 2-8, a short shot which went by Michael Carmichael and just under the crossbar into goal. The Panama supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Panama would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
