Umaru Ogodo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 39th minute of the match, Nsofor Lala tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Francisco Seme saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Argentina's Anibal Colon in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After the first half Argentina were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

But to his dismay, Nsofor Lala quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. 77 minutes into the match, Nigeria's goalkeeper Umaru Ogodo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonel Orlandus. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Argentina had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
