An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedicto Naelio in the 13th minute of play forced Re Loco's goalkeeper Arne Rusterholz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paolo-César Maldini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Argentina's goal looked a bit too open when Mateusz Sakowicz came free, but Lev Yashin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benedicto Naelio might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arne Rusterholz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Benedicto Naelio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute Mateusz Sakowicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 44 played minutes Argentina got a freekick which was hit by Benedicto Naelio. Eustacio Admon took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lev Yashin. Argentina's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Arne Rusterholz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Nevada in the 55th minute of the match. Re Loco's Arne Rusterholz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Severo Rolado in the 60th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Amado Arotza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arne Rusterholz was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Re Loco made a substitution. Celso Lalla replaced Basilio Maiorga. Lev Yashin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mateusz Sakowicz, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 66th minute Amado Arotza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arne Rusterholz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Przemyslaw Kowalski hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Re Loco's Nicolás González was substituted for Eustacio Admon. Re Loco made a substitution. In the 70th minute, Modesto Gipuzkoa sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Re Loco's Arne Rusterholz didn't even have to move. With a little luck, Argentina's Lev Yashin got control of the ball when Mateusz Sakowicz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mateusz Sakowicz made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 72ndth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Lev Yashin would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 75 minutes into the match, Argentina's goalkeeper Lev Yashin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mateusz Sakowicz. Arne Rusterholz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Severo Rolado in the 82nd minute of play. Argentina's Lev Yashin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Argentina from getting a goal against them.
