Seating: 5448, VIP seats: 473) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jakub Dunajski took the kick off in the first half of the match. Maro Ritieni received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Tobiasz Czermak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Poland's Jacek Pyrzyce got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Handi Gottesman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacek Pyrzyce's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maro Ritieni in the 17th minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Tobiasz Czermak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacek Pyrzyce got free with Handi Gottesman in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 21 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goalkeeper Handi Gottesman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacek Pyrzyce. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Switzerland's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Witalis Giertych was slow to take the kick. During this time Poland's players had a chance to rest. Poland's Wiktor Chuchro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Handi Gottesman in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 22nd minute, Klement Wielgopolski fired away a shot that was totally unreachable for Handi Gottesman. The ball ended up just outside the left post, and Poland's manager could be seen angrily pacing the sidelines. Handi Gottesman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jakub Dunajski, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Handi Gottesman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jakub Dunajski in the 29th minute of the match. Gerard Genazzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tobiasz Czermak having to interfere. In the 32nd minute Jacek Pyrzyce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Handi Gottesman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Poland's Jacek Pyrzyce sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Handi Gottesman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Switzerland's Handi Gottesman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacek Pyrzyce in the 43rd minute of play. In the 44th minute, Anton Trolla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Switzerland's zone, Jacek Pyrzyce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Handi Gottesman came out of the goal and Jacek Pyrzyce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The wind increased when Maro Ritieni made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Müller in the 51st minute of play forced Poland's goalkeeper Tobiasz Czermak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 51 minutes into the game, Tomas Müller cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Tobiasz Czermak was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Handi Gottesman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacek Pyrzyce in the 55th minute of the match. Tobiasz Czermak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Schwyzer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacek Pyrzyce in the 59th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Handi Gottesman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ludomir Rosen hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Poland's Tobiasz Czermak got control of the ball when Maro Ritieni tried to sneak it across the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Gerard Genazzi heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Jacek Pyrzyce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Handi Gottesman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacek Pyrzyce, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. With a little luck, Poland's Tobiasz Czermak got control of the ball when Gerard Genazzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Poland's Grzegorz Gleba was substituted for Jacek Pyrzyce. Switzerland's Stig Hediger was substituted for Maro Ritieni. Poland made a substitution. Wieslaw Januszewski replaced Robert Gadocha. Poland's Gustaw Bejrut was substituted for Witalis Giertych. Stig Hediger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Tobiasz Czermak made a huge save. Jakub Dunajski kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Switzerland's Luca Rondinelli was substituted for Olaf Haller. In the 82nd minute, Jakub Dunajski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Stig Hediger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Switzerland's supporters rose to their feet, but Stig Hediger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tobiasz Czermak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sidney Federer hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. In the 88th minute Miguel Schwyzer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobiasz Czermak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Switzerland's goal looked a bit too open when Grzegorz Gleba came free, but Handi Gottesman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 90thth minute of the game Grzegorz Gleba who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Switzerland's Handi Gottesman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 91st minute of the match Poland got a corner. Switzerland's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Klement Wielgopolski ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gustaw Bejrut made a great header on Poland's corner, it was just that Switzerland's Handi Gottesman managed to reach the ball for a save. Handi Gottesman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grzegorz Gleba, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Romain Eigner's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tobiasz Czermak read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Poland fans cheered their team off the field, for while Switzerland had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
