The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Edgard Belmiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enrique Frederick was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. In the 46th minute, Odilon Baxter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Keylor Navas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After the first half Canada were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Jeremiah Spaulding made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Celso Sabino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Keylor Navas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Ayala in the 57th minute of play. Odilon Baxter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th match minute, Canada was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Odilon Baxter to maneuver through the defense. Enrique Frederick made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Sugar in the 62nd minute of play. Odilon Baxter in the 64thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Keylor Navas, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Argentina getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Enrique Frederick showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hector Sugar in the 70th minute of the match. Keylor Navas had in the 83rdth minute some difficulties stopping Alex Ayala's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 88th minute Odilon Baxter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keylor Navas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adrian Senon missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 94 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Enrique Frederick right hand side. In the 96th minute, Claude Duhamel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enrique Frederick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabi Batistuta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
