The audience thought a goal was coming when Márton Zsinka got free with Justinas Majauskas in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. András Medgyesi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justinas Majauskas having to interfere. 12 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Germanas Andrulis came free, but Örs Gerencsér reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Germanas Andrulis took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Örs Gerencsér. Örs Gerencsér dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, Hungary's goal looked a bit too open when Germanas Andrulis came free, but Örs Gerencsér reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lithuania's Justinas Majauskas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by András Medgyesi in the 18th minute of play. In the 20th match minute, Hungary was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Péter Rederer to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute Germanas Andrulis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Örs Gerencsér saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 25th minute, Hungary's András Medgyesi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Justinas Majauskas. Justinas Majauskas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. 29 minutes into the game, Germanas Andrulis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Örs Gerencsér was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hungary were furious when András Sánta was red carded, 36 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Hungary fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 35th minute. Penalty! 37 minutes into the game, Feliksas Jučas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Örs Gerencsér was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Örs Gerencsér showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germanas Andrulis, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Örs Gerencsér didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Germanas Andrulis went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. The Hungary players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lithuania were winning 1-4.

53 minutes into the match, Hungary's goalkeeper Örs Gerencsér had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Liutauras Davanauskas. After a defensive mix-up in Lithuania's zone, András Medgyesi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Justinas Majauskas came out of the goal and András Medgyesi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Justinas Majauskas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from András Medgyesi in the 59th minute of play. András Medgyesi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Justinas Majauskas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from András Medgyesi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Germanas Andrulis came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Lithuania fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Germanas Andrulis couldn't finish the play. Hungary made a substitution. Levente Tokody replaced Róbert Hegedűs. Lithuania made a substitution. Ignas Laužikas replaced Vilius Damašas. Örs Gerencsér stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Germanas Andrulis's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Lithuania's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Arminas Podėris in the 84th minute. After taking down the ball on Lithuania's corner Arminas Podėris fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Örs Gerencsér quite easily take care of the ball. 87 minutes into the game, Germanas Andrulis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-5. Örs Gerencsér was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Feliksas Jučas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
