Spectators: 10302 (Terracing: 7727, Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Matamba Tejada started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 6 minutes had been played when some careless play by U21 Panama's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Claudio Campos was slow to take the kick. During this time U21 Costa Rica's players had a chance to rest. Claudio Campos made a great header on U21 Costa Rica's corner, it was just that U21 Panama's Américo Pinilla managed to reach the ball for a save. Américo Pinilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrei Federspiel in the 12th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Israel Orlich during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Israel Orlich hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute, Emanuel Tello fired a really elegant long shot, but Keilor Navas threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. A collision led to U21 Panama getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Rigoberto Morales hit a great ball. Américo Pinilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrei Federspiel in the 23rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Mariano Matute got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 29thth minute of the game Matamba Tejada who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but U21 Costa Rica's Keilor Navas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 32nd minute, Omar Orozco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Keilor Navas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Emanuel Tello in the 33rd minute. Matamba Tejada could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Keilor Navas made a huge save. Alex Artavia hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After 38 played minutes U21 Panama got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Morales. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matamba Tejada in the 43rd minute of play forced U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Keilor Navas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matamba Tejada took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Keilor Navas. Keilor Navas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andrei Federspiel made a kick off. After a rather tough play, U21 Panama's Reggie Mendoza got a free kick in the 53rd minute. In the 54th match minute, U21 Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mariano Matute to maneuver through the defense. Omar Orozco kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. If Tomás Villalobos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Keilor Navas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Peren in the 68th minute of the match. After 70 played minutes U21 Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Andrei Federspiel. U21 Costa Rica's Josue Cordero was substituted for Andrei Federspiel. U21 Costa Rica's Leon Figueres was substituted for Alex Artavia. After 71 played minutes U21 Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Andrei Federspiel. 75 minutes into the game, Gustavo Sánchez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Keilor Navas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 78th minute, Gustavo Sánchez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Matamba Tejada kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matamba Tejada in the 83rd minute of play forced U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Keilor Navas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute Matamba Tejada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keilor Navas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 90 in the game by Efren Echeverri from a close distance when the talented Américo Pinilla managed to make a qualified save. U21 Panama's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, U21 Costa Rica's Israel Orlich got a free kick in the 94th minute. In the 95th minute of the match Emanuel Tello sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Keilor Navas skillfully saved the ball.
