Corozo Genova made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rolando Guerrero in the 24th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, U21 El Salvador's goal looked a bit too open when Félix Cortes came free, but Augusto Mora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 52 played minutes U21 El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Rolando Guerrero. 53 minutes into the match, Kléber Letamendi notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of U21 El Salvador's Augusto Mora. Augusto Mora was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 55 minutes, Marcos Gamero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the U21 El Salvador and the U21 Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erick Medina during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
