He walked away shaking his head. After 15 played minutes U21 Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Leo Blen. Umea Caubilla might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gabe Conejo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Umea Caubilla ran back to his position shaking his head. 18 minutes into the match, U21 Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Umea Caubilla came free, but Gabe Conejo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. U21 Ecuador's Morales Toralino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hector Ruiz in the 22nd minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, U21 Costa Rica's goalkeeper Gabe Conejo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Umea Caubilla. Morales Toralino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hector Ruiz in the 30th minute of play. After 30 played minutes U21 Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Félix Torres. In the 39th minute, Umea Caubilla made a precise shot to the right of Gabe Conejo. U21 Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 43 minutes into the match, U21 Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Hector Ruiz came free, but Morales Toralino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 46 minutes into the game, one of U21 Costa Rica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Umea Caubilla to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Umea Caubilla notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of U21 Costa Rica's Gabe Conejo. Gabe Conejo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 59th minute, Umea Caubilla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The U21 Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. U21 Ecuador made a substitution. Carnero Viergol replaced Tyrone Rubayo. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jaime Quiros got free with Morales Toralino in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to U21 Ecuador getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Félix Torres hit a great ball. U21 Costa Rica made a substitution. Manrique Medina replaced Elias Carballo. In the 74th minute, Félix Torres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Xan Gaona's late challenge caught a U21 Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xan Gaona helped the player get up and apologised. Xan Gaona hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Gabe Conejo came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Ecuador's Tin Delgado. But to his dismay, Tin Delgado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Tin Delgado scored 8-0 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gabe Conejo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Fello Serrano made in the 92nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by U21 Ecuador's Xan Gaona. In the 93rd minute, Fello Serrano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. U21 Ecuador's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
