The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alvaro Lore showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. U21 Argentina's Alvaro Lore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hayden Hoebe in the 17th minute of play. Henk Breinburg made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Nahuel Luján sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nahuel Luján got free with Henk Breinburg in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 34th minute Tim Heikens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alvaro Lore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Fulgencio Hernandez dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Henk Breinburg, 1-0. If Nahuel Luján had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Henk Breinburg successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Alvaro Lore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filip Hoogland in the 46th minute of play. After having played for 47 minutes, Piet Pistol managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. U21 Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Piet Pistol was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Piet Pistol to strike the kick off in the second half. U21 Argentina were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after U21 Netherlands's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Javier Abajas took the corner. In the 61st match minute, U21 Netherlands was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sjaak Polak to maneuver through the defense. Alvaro Lore made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henky Netto in the 66th minute of play. Alvaro Lore came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by U21 Netherlands's Piet Pistol. But to his dismay, Piet Pistol quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. U21 Netherlands made a substitution. Iwan Reiling replaced Piet Pistol. Javier Pasqual struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Henk Breinburg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Argentina. Henk Breinburg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Apolo Ordono, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of U21 Argentina booed when U21 Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timo Harmens didn't get a good kick on the ball. 76 minutes into the match, U21 Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Apolo Ordono came free, but Henk Breinburg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Apolo Ordono in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henk Breinburg saved U21 Netherlands from getting behind. U21 Netherlands's Henk Breinburg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Apolo Ordono in the 85th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Apolo Ordono notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of U21 Netherlands's Henk Breinburg. Henk Breinburg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alvaro Lore was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Filip Hoogland showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 92 minute of play. Alvaro Lore made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabrielius St Clair in the 96th minute. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
