The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shawn Corpeño in the 15th minute of play forced Kuwait's goalkeeper Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diego Barraza was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sanad Al Hajri showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 16 minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Monther Al Qatam in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Diego Barraza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st minute Kuwait were awarded a corner. Meshal Al Wazan went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Kuwait's Meshal Al Wazan to fire away a dangerous shot which Diego Barraza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Diego Barraza was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kuwait's Abdul Rahman Al Khobaize played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Ayala in the 37th minute of play. Diego Barraza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monther Al Qatam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jaffer Al Nasser struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Diego Barraza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kuwait. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Sanad Al Hajri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diego Barraza came out of the goal and Sanad Al Hajri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sanad Al Hajri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of El Salvador booed when Kuwait was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nasser Al Sherazi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Richard Ayala sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. But to his dismay, Sanad Al Hajri quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Bassam Al Mofede kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diego Barraza. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diego Barraza should have stopped the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Kuwait fully deserved thier win.
