The supporters of El Salvador booed when FC Toho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelsinho da Mata didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raúl Quintanilla in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tom Landy prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

Tom Landy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Raúl Quintanilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After 58 minutes of play, El Salvador's Raúl Quintanilla made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tom Landy was left in no man's land by his defense there! Januario Alfaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xu Liang in the 64th minute of play. After a rather tough play, El Salvador's Carlos Palencia got a free kick in the 68th minute. 70 minutes into the game, Qi Sang Xiang threw the ball into play from the sideline. El Salvador's Miguel Gallegos quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Dida Bittencourt hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Januario Alfaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Feng Lin Jie in the 76th minute of play. In the 79th minute Nelsinho da Mata shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Januario Alfaro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 81 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Gallegos. Carlos Palencia lost his temper 82 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Januario Alfaro had in the 85thth minute some difficulties stopping Xu Liang's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 91st minute of the match, Feng Lin Jie got a very nice opportunity to score, but Januario Alfaro was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 92nd minute, Dida Bittencourt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dida Bittencourt kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Feng Lin Jie got free with Januario Alfaro in the 100th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The El Salvador players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
