With a little luck, U21 Poland's Teobald Swoboda got control of the ball when Rüştü Yetkin tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 16th minute Tytus Dziatkowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Şentürk Belen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Tytus Dziatkowski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Şentürk Belen. U21 Turkey's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tytus Dziatkowski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 19 minutes into the game, Rüştü Yetkin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Teobald Swoboda. Rüştü Yetkin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. 22 minutes into the match, U21 Turkey's goal looked a bit too open when Mieszko Zagrodny came free, but Şentürk Belen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mieszko Zagrodny in the 23rd minute of play forced U21 Turkey's goalkeeper Şentürk Belen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Şentürk Belen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dariusz Giertych, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ryszard Piatek in the 47th minute of play forced U21 Turkey's goalkeeper Şentürk Belen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The U21 Turkey players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. U21 Poland were winning 1-3.
