Mijat Kresić took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronald Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, Croatia's Hrvoje Matoš ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cesar Batres. Cesar Batres yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Višeslav Hrvatinić succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 20th playminute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hrvoje Matoš got free with Cesar Batres in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Oswaldo Galdamez hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Cesar Batres didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hrvoje Matoš went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After taking down the ball on Croatia's corner Vice Štrublić fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cesar Batres quite easily take care of the ball.
